Wartburg Speedway set to host the SRRS Showdown Finale on Tuesday July 3rd

WARTBURG, TN (June 27, 2012)—The Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN will play host to the Southern Regional Racing Series ‘Showdown’ Finale event on Tuesday Night July 3rd.

The $4,000 to win event will be the headliner of the night for the SRRS Super Late Models and is the fourth and final leg of the mini-Speed week that stretches from Thursday to Tuesday.

The Extreme ($400 to win); Mod Lite ($400 to win); Street ($500 to win) and Open Wheel Modifieds ($600 to win) will also be on the racing card with a six car minimum required in those support classes to be eligible for full purse. A huge fireworks show will light up the sky during intermission.

Wartburg Speedway, a 1/3rd mile oval, has hosted 12 Late Model events to date with Brian Hooks (6/23, 6/9, and 4/14); Dan Tipton (6/2, 5/26 and 4/7) and current Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series Rookie of the Year points leader Mike Weeks (5/19, 4/28 and 4/21) have ALL CLAIMED THREE Late Model Feature event wins this season as well as Darrick York (6/16 and 5/5) capturing multiple event wins and Anthony White claiming a single victory on May 12.

On Tuesday July 3rd the Pit and Tier Parking gates will swing open at 1:00 pm with Grandstand gates opening at 5:00 pm and Driver’s Meeting slated for around 7:00 pm and Hot Laps will roll out shortly thereafter. Adult General Admission is $20.00 for Adults with Children 8-12 being $5.00 and Children seven and under free with paying adult. Tier Parking is $25.00 for Adults with Children 8-12 being $15.00 and Children seven and under admitted free with paying adult. Pit Passes are $35.00 for Adults while Children 12 and under are admitted for $15.00 and Parent/Legal guardian must sign waiver for any minor in the pit area.

The Five Town Showdown will now compete at four race tracks over the course of six nights starting Thursday Night June 28th at the Duck River Speedway in Wheel, TN ($3,000 to win); then Saturday Night June 30th at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN ($3,000 to win); then Monday Night July 2 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN ($3,000 to win) and the finale on Tuesday Night July 3 at Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN ($4,000 to win).

The Showdown drivers will be competing for a points fund as follows: 1) $2000, 2) $1250, 3) $800, 4) $650, 5) $500 and drivers must compete in all four events to be eligible for the points monies.
