TAZEWELL, Tenn. – The American Modified Series, along with the Southern Mod Lite Racing Series, is coming to town on Saturday night, June 30th. The American Modified Series will be hosting a 30 lap feature paying $3,000 to win. The Southern Mod Lite Racing Series will be hosting a 20 lap feature, with purse depending on car count. Plus, Tazewell Speedway track owner Gary Hall will be offering another 2012 edition of $1 hotdog night!!!

Many Eastern United States Open Wheel Modified hot shoes are expected to attend the event. Confirmed drivers include Joey Kramer of Hanover, Indiana, Don Adams of Lexington, Kentucky, Ricky Arms of Moss, Tennessee, Dustin Isom of Paducah, Kentucky, Shon Flanary of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee, Mack McCarter of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Trent Young of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Bryan Barber of Buffalo, Kentucky, Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Rocky Wilson of Hodgenville, Kentucky.

Other drivers expected to possibly make the trip to the high banks of the “Bad Fast Taz” include Shawn Tolson, Jacoby Hines, John DeMoss, Christian Baker, Delane Browning, Cameron Marlar, Jim Barnett, David Adams, J.T. Ayers, Devin Gilpin, Trent Green, Matt Hamilton, Tyler James, Matthew Hopper, Ricky Tinch, Amos Bunch, Jeff Hamby Jr., Keith Longmire, and several others.

Series promoter Kenny Kenneda is ready to bring the OWM’s back to the high banks at Tazewell Speedway. “It’s exciting to be coming back to one of the fastest tracks in the country with the American Modified Series. We can’t wait to get there!” Other series drivers, including Bryan Barber, Joey Kramer, and Don Adams, have also expressed their excitement on returning to the high banks.

Southern Mod Lite drivers expected to be in attendance include Josh Pugh of Crossville, Tennessee, John Stout of Harriman, Tennessee, Ron Dodson of Sparta, Tennessee, David Appleby of Knoxville, Tennessee, Carl Lovelace of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Kelli Barnes of Crossville, Tennessee, KD Knoedler of Vonore, Tennessee, and several others.

Series director David Appleby discussed the hype of the first trip for the Southern Mod Lite Racing Series to Tazewell Speedway over the telephone. “This will be our first time there, and to say our guys are excited about the chance to race at Tazewell would be an understatement!” This will be event #2 of the Southern Mod Lite’s Summer Holiday Shootout miniseries. Also, the series officials will be throwing frisbees into the grandstands signed by the drivers. If your frisbee is signed by the winning driver of the 20 lap event, you will receive a $50 gift courtesy of White Oak Construction.

Also in action for June 30th will be the Modified Street, Pure Street, Classics, and 4 Cylinder. Plus, don’t forget about our Independence Weekend special on Tuesday night, July 3rd, featuring a $3,000 to win Limited Late Model event, and a $700 to win Modified Street “Run What Ya Brung” event. Pure Street and Classics will also be in action with $300 to win each feature, as well as a holiday fireworks display. So bring out the family for some holiday fun this Saturday, June 30th, and Tuesday night, July 3rd for some great dirt track racing action!

June 30th: Grandstand Admission - $15. Children ages 9 and under admitted free with a paying adult. Pit Admission - $30 (regardless of age).
