CARTERSVILLE, GA The halfway point of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series has arrived with Week 14 competition at 13 different tracks in four different states. Point leader Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA is the only driver that has competing in each week of 2012 season, and has recorded at least one win each week.
Trosclair has a 41-point lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points chase over Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS. Trosclair has one more week to earn full points, and then the fun begins, as Trosclair starts the process of netting points by replacing his lowest weekly point total among his best 14 with as higher one.
In the next few weeks, Trosclair will be netting points, while Barrett, third-place Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, and fourth-place Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS can still earn full points for two more weeks. Fifth-place Chase Washington of Houlka, MS and sixth-place Ryan King of Seymour, TN can earn full points for three more weeks.
Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS can earn full points for two more weeks from the seventh spot, while eighth-place Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS and ninth-place Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS can earn full points for three more weeks. The tenth-place driver, Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL can earn full points for another five weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 action begins on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO, who will host a $1,000-to-win event. Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will also be in action on Friday night, as drivers tune up for a pair of 40-lap $2,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division races on July 5 and July 6.
Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 events will be held at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN and Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL. East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL will present a tune-up race on Saturday night before the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division arrives for a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race on July 4.
Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will host a Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 event, as will Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
There will be three NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 15 races early next week. 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN will be in action on Monday night, July 2. Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS and Talladega Short Track will be action with Week 15 races on Tuesday night, July 3.
Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series compete against each other using a points system that counts their best 14 week point totals, plus up to 100 bonus points, over the 27-week season. They are competing for a $20,000 point fund that pays back ten spots at the end of the season. The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn a $10,000 top prize.
