CARTERSVILLE, GA – Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL is the new home in the Sunshine State for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series. Bubba Raceway Park will host the $10,000-to-win 100-lap 8th Annual NeSmith Chevrolet World Championship Race on Novermber30-December 1.

In addition to presenting the 2012 season finale for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division, Bubba Raceway Park will also open the 2013 season with the first five races during Florida Speedweeks. The first four races will be 40-lap $2,000-to-win events on January 29 through February 1, 2013 and the fifth race will be a 50-lap $3,000-to-win event on February 2, 2013.

Bubba Raceway Park will also be a part of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series and drivers in the Bubba Raceway Park NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division will compete against drivers at other sanctioned tracks throughout the Southeast through a points system during a 27-week season using their top 14 weekly point totals.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series has a $20,000 point fund that pays $10,000 to the Champion and pays back through the Top 10 in the point standings. Bubba Raceway Park competitors will also compete for a track point fund.

Bubba Raceway Park is owned and promoted by nationally syndicated radio personality Bubba The Love Sponge Clem, who has embraced the concept and the growing popularity of the economical Chevrolet Performance sealed engine for the weekly Late Models at his track.

“We couldn’t be more excited about our new partnership with the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series” said track owner Bubba the Love Sponge Clem ®. “This partnership is a win for the racers, the fans, the NeSmith Chevrolet Performance Powered Series and Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala Florida. NeSmith has built a great reputation as the premier dirt late model crate motor powered series in America and we are honored to now be part of it.”

The NeSmith Chevrolet World Championship Race has become the premier event for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division since its inception in 2005, and has drawn some of the top dirt late model drivers in the country to compete for the $10,000 top prize. Past winners have included Jimmy Owens, Randy Korte, Shanon Buckingham, Tim McCreadie, Doug Horton, and Jonathan Davenport.

The race has been held in the past at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL where it gained popularity and stature, but when series and the East Bay Raceway Park ownership could not reach an agreement regarding the 2012 World Championship Race, Bubba The Love Sponge Clem reached out to the series to give it a new home in Florida and keep the World Championship Race alive around the Performance Racing Industry Show in Orlando, FL.

“The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series is looking forward to working with Bubba The Love Sponge Clem and his staff at Bubba Raceway Park for the World Championship Race on November 30 and December 1, and in the future for the 2013 season,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said. “When it became clear that the future growth of the World Championship Race at East Bay was not obtainable, we were fortunate to have Bubba Raceway Park share our vision for both the race and the series as a whole.”

Vaughn is also pleased that his seven-year quest to bring the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series to Central Florida has finally been fulfilled by Bubba Raceway Park.

“After seven years of trying to bring the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series to Central Florida, we’re happy to have finally found a home at Bubba Raceway Park for drivers in the area,” Vaughn said. “Just about every Central Florida driver that has bought a membership over the past seven years has expressed an interest in competing for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Championship, and now thanks to Bubba Raceway Park, these drivers will finally have their opportunity to compete weekly on a national stage and receive the publicity and notoriety they deserve.”
