Jason Hughes Rolls to Seventh Win of 2012 Season

Westville, Oklahoma (7/03/12) – Jason Hughes took part in a five race series with the Casey's USMTS tour over the course of last week, and while it was an up and down experience for the team he did claim his seventh win of the year in his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified.

June 26th, 2012 - Jason began a five event stretch on the Casey's USMTS tour on Tuesday evening as a $2,000-to-win, Casey's Cup program was contested at Mineral City Speedway (Fort Dodge, Iowa). Twenty competitors registered for action, and in his heat race Hughes claimed the win in the second heat race from outside front row starting spot, which locked him into the redraw for the 30 lap feature. In the redraw he received the fifth starting spot for the main event. He would battle in the top five for the duration of the feature but would be unable to work his way to the lead as he crossed the finish line in the fourth spot behind race winner, Rodney Sanders, Ryan Gustin, and Kelly Shryock.

June 27th, 2012 - On Wednesday night the team rolled into Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for a $4,000-to-win, Casey's USMTS National Championship event at the 3/8 mile oval. Fifty-three competitors converged on the facility for the event, and in heat race action Jason advanced from the seventh starting spot to a third place finish to lock into the fourteenth starting spot for the 40 lap feature. After failing to make up much ground early in the feature Hughes ultimately retired to a 24th place finish.

June 28th, 2012 - After a frustrating performance the night prior at Deer Creek Speedway, Jason would bounce back with a solid performance on Thursday evening at Fairmont Raceway (Fairmont, Minnesota). With 30 entries on hand for the Casey's USMTS National Championship race, Hughes finished second in his heat race to lock into the redraw for the 35 lap, $4,000-to-win feature. In the redraw he received the second starting spot for the finale with Ryan Gustin starting to his inside. As the race went green Gustin bolted to the lead with Hughes in second. A few laps later Hughes would slip to the third spot. He would battle in the top five over the remainder of the event before registering a fourth place finish behind race winner, Gustin, Terry Phillips, and Rodney Sanders.

June 29th, 2012 - Jason powered his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Hughes Chassis to his seventh win of the 2012 season on Friday night by topping the $4,000-to-win, Casey's USMTS Championship event at Highway 3 Raceway (Allison, Iowa). Thirty-one competitors entered the event, and Jason began his night by charging from the eighth starting spot in his heat race to a third place finish, which locked him into the redraw for the feature. In the redraw he received the third starting spot. He would run in the top five for the duration of the event before mechanical woes on leader, Stormy Scott's entry with just two laps to go allowed Hughes to inherit the lead. Jason went on to lead the final two laps to claim the win over Ryan Gustin, Jon Tesch, Johnny Scott, and Ryan Ruter.

June 30th, 2012 - Saturday night marked the fifth straight event of the week for Jason Hughes as he took part in a $4,000-to-win, Casey's USMTS National Series event at Upper Iowa Speedway (Decorah, Iowa). Twenty-five competitors were on hand for the program, and via heat race action Hughes locked into the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the pole starting spot with Jeremy Payne joining him on the front row. Jason led the first fourteen laps of the feature before slipping to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Ryan Gustin, Zack VanderBeek, Jon Tesch, and Jeremy Payne.

Jason is currently third in the latest Casey's USMTS National Series standings. Hughes Chassis continues to lead the Tiger Rear Ends Manufacturer's standings. Full results from the week's events and the latest standings are available at www.USMTS.com.
