CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 15 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will be a very busy one with 14 points-paying events over six days. Two races are already in the books having been run on Monday and Tuesday nights. There are also four NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events over the next four nights paying Bonus Points.

Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN became a Week 15 winner on Monday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the CVR Race Cars Special, and Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS took the win on Tuesday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Bassett Hound Motorsports GRT.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will present the four-race; three track Salute To America Nationals this Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with eligible entrants earning 25 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points at each event.

East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL opens the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Salute To America Nationals tonight with a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race. Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will present a pair of 40-lap $2,000-to-win races on Thursday night and Friday night. Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA will have the Salute To America Nationals finale on Saturday night with a 50-lap $2,500-to-win event.

Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events will be held at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Magnolia Motor Speedway will also be in action on Saturday night with a $1,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet WRS event.

Other Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events will be held at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings by 40 points over Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is in the third spot, 51 points behind Trosclair. Those margins could be quite a bit closer after Week 15 competition, and there could very well be a new point leader.

With a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals, plus up to 100 Bonus Points, counting as their season total, a driver begins to net points after they reach the 14-week mark of individual competition by replacing the lowest weekly point total in their 14-week total with a higher one.

Trosclair has reached the 14-week mark of competition, and beginning this week will begin netting points. The lowest weekly point total for Trosclair is a 40. So if Trosclair can win a 50-point race in Week 15, he would net ten points. Barrett and Lee can still earn full points for one more week before they both hit the 14-week mark.

If both Trosclair and Barrett take 50-point wins in Week 15 action, they will be tied in the standings with 764 points. The driver that is in catbird’s seat to take over the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point lead at the end of Week 15 competition is Lee. If Lee can win a 50-point race, that would bring his 14-week total to 753 points.

Lee can also earn 25 Bonus Points this week by either competing in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division event, or a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 15 event that would mark his fourth straight week of competition. That would give Lee 778 points and the point lead.

All Lee has to do is start a Week 15 event with eight or more cars to earn at least 41 points, plus his 25 Bonus Points, to bring his total up to 769 points, or finish fourth or better in a field of seven or less to bring his total to 765 points to take over the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point lead at the end of Week 15 competition.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series compete against each other using a points system that counts their best 14 week point totals, plus up to 100 bonus points, over the 27-week season. They are competing for a $20,000 point fund that pays back ten spots at the end of the season. The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn a $10,000 top prize.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.

These engines are in stock and ready for free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast from NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA.
