Ponderosa Speedway Cancels July 6 Racing Due to Extreme Heat and Dry Conditions

Junction City, KY-July 5, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway was set to return to racing action on Friday July 6, but track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz have decided to cancel the racing program for July 6 due to the extreme heat and dry conditions that have gripped the Central and Kentucky area over the past week.

Accuweather.com is predicting a forecast high of 102 degrees and a real feel temperature of 111 degrees tomorrow (Friday July 6) and the Yantz family felt it was in the best interest its racers and fans to cancel the racing program for Friday July 6 due to the extreme heat and dry conditions.

The next racing event scheduled for Ponderosa Speedway will now take place on Friday July 13 and will feature a full program of racing for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Clayton Homes Modifieds, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday and selected Saturday evenings from April through October of the 2012 race season.
