Southern Nationals ‘Late Model Mania’ heats up on Tuesday July 17th at Smoky Mountain
Three divisions of Late Models on Tap for Tuesday Night Special

MARYVILLE, TN (July 9, 2012)—Late Model Mania will be in full force at Smoky Mountain Speedway on Tuesday Night July 17th.

The Maryville, TN track will host its sixth Super Late Model event of the season and fourth different sanctioning body as well. This time it’s the Ray Cook promoted Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series rolling into the East Tennessee Foothills for a 35-lap $3,500 to win / $450 to start event. This will be Round # 2 on the 10-race mini-series and a star-studded field of an ALL Late Model lineup that night.

This will mark the first-ever visit by the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series to the historical Smoky Mountain Speedway facility and the 24th different track the series will be competing at since the inception of the series in 2005. The Limited Late Models will be on the racing card paying $1,000 to win / $125 to start as well as the NeSmith Crate Late Models racing for $800 to win / $100 to start.

Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN dominated the first three Late Model events held at Smoky Mountain Speedway by capturing the Southern All Stars $5,000 event on April 14th then taking the USLMS event on May 26th and also the June 16th Southern All Stars Big Daddy 500 event. Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC holds the last two remaining wins at Smoky Mountain. Cook took $3,000 in the Southern Regional Racing Series-SHOWDOWN event win on June 30th as well as the USLMS event on July 7th.

Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC is a three time and the defending Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series Champion and is scheduled to be in attendance along with last year’s tour runner-up Tony Knowles of Tyrone, GA; NASCAR Nationwide Series regular and 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Austin Dillon of Lewisville, NC; defending ARCA Series Champion Ty Dillon of Lewisville, NC; Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN; Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN; Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA; Donald Bradsher of Burlington, NC; Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN and many more expected from all over the Southeast during the running of the first-ever visit by the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series

On Tuesday Night July 17th the Pit gates will swing open at 3:00 pm and Grandstand/Tier Parking gates opening at 5:00 pm with Driver’s Meeting slated for around 7:00 pm. Adult General Admission is $20.00 with Children 6-11 being $5.00 and five and under admitted free. In tier parking, it’s $25.00 for adults while children 6-11 are $10.00 and five and under admitted free. Adult Pit Passes are $35.00 while children 11 and under are admitted for $15.00.
