Dale McDowell Registers Fifth Win for Team Dillon Racing

Welcome, North Carolina (07/10/12) – The last minute decision for Dale McDowell to take the #41 Team Dillon Racing Warrior Super Late Model into battle on Tuesday night, July 3rd in the 7th Annual Robert Pursley Memorial at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) turned into a $5,000 win and his fifth triumph of the 2012 season.

Nineteen Super Late Models entered the Battle of the Eastern All Stars Tour (BEAST) event, and McDowell blazed to fast time honors with a 16.141 second lap around the 1/2 mile oval. Via his qualifying effort he earned the pole position for the 40 lap finale with Johnny Pursley starting to his outside. Dale won the drag race to turn one and went on to lead all of the laps in the main event on his way to the victory, which came over Pursley, Ross Bailes, Casey Roberts, and Dennis Franklin.

Dale commented, “The car was really good tonight. Shane, my brother, and Shawn, and all the guys did a great job. We’re in Ty’s car. I wrecked mine last week at Lernerville, so Ty had a car there and everything went right. Qualifying went OK, and leading that first lap is real important here.”

Austin Dillon returned to the familiar confines of his #3 Team Dillon Racing/Warrior Super Late Model on Sunday evening at Tri State Speedway (Haubstadt, Indiana) in an UMP DIRTCar Summernationals event. Twenty-eight competitors were on hand for the $5,000-to-win event, and after qualifying sixth fastest in his group, he started sixth in the second heat race. He would pass three cars in his heat on his way to a third place finish, which locked him into the eighth starting spot for the 40 lap feature. During the course of the feature Austin would battle in the top ten before crossing the finish line in the seventh position. Full results are available at www.TheHellTour.com .

Austin plans to enter two more UMP DIRTCar Summernationals events this week as he travels to Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) on Tuesday night before entering an event at Brushcreek Motorsports complex (Peebles, Ohio) on Wednesday evening. Both events will be highlighted by a pair of $5,000-to-win, 40 lap events. For more information on the events, please visit www.TheHellTour.com .
