Josh McGuire Picks Up Fifth Win of 2012 at Richmond; Two Big Events this Weekend!

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team picked up their fifth feature win of the 2012 racing season last Saturday night, July 7 at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky! After starting third on the grid in his heat race, Josh McGuire blasted to the front to take the heat race triumph. The Grayson, Kentucky standout then started the 25-lapper from the outside of the front row and led from flag-to-flag to claim the $1,000 victory in the ‘Butterball Wooldridge Memorial’ tune-up race!

Earlier in the week, Josh entered a pair of Dirt Late Model showdowns in the Buckeye State of Ohio. On Tuesday at the Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio, Josh won his loaded heat race and later rolled off third in the $10,000 to win ‘Budweiser 50,’ which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. He hung around the top five through much of the 50-lapper before slipping back to a seventh place performance. At the Jackson County Speedway in Jackson, Ohio on Friday evening, the popular driver known as “Bad Fast” set fast time in qualifying, finished second in his heat race, and later notched a solid fourth place effort in the $1,500 to win A-Main. A detailed race-by-race recap from last week can be viewed online at www.joshmcguireracing.com.

“It was a good week for us, especially running up front with the Lucas Oil guys on Tuesday at Zanesville and winning on Saturday at Richmond,” exclaimed McGuire earlier this week. “We went to Richmond to try some stuff out before the upcoming Butterball Wooldridge Memorial and I was pretty impressed with the racetrack. It had a cushion, which Richmond never does, and it was a lot of fun to race on. Hopefully, they have the track like that when we come back this weekend for the $7,500 to win show!”

The #41 team has a pair of high-profile events on their radar this upcoming weekend in the states of Ohio and Kentucky. The Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio will take center stage tonight, July 13 by hosting the $3,000 to win ‘Southern Showdown.’ On Saturday evening, July 14, the dirt-slinging action will quickly shift south to the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky for the 25th edition of the Sunoco Race Fuels ‘Paul Butterball Wooldridge Memorial.’ Josh is the defending winner of the storied race, which boasts a hefty $7,500 payday.
