CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 17 competition began Tuesday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN with three of the Top 10 drivers in the point standings in action. Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN picked up his fourth straight win driving the CVR Race Cars Special.

The Smoky Mountain Speedway race has created a log jam at the top of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points list, as the top four drivers are separated by just nine points as the rest of the Week 17 schedule unfolds on Friday night and Saturday night.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader with 781 points in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star and will be trying to net on a 46 this weekend. Chase Washington of Houlka, MS finished seventh on Tuesday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in the Jerry Inmon Racing Special and climbed from fifth to second in the points chase with 775 points.

Washington earned 44 points in his 14th week of competition on Tuesday night, but he can still try to better that point total this weekend. A 50-point win would bring Washington’s point total 781. Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA is third with 773 points, and will be trying to net on a 40 driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN finished second on Tuesday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in the Brian King Roofing Stinger, netting him eight points, but he dropped from third to fourth in the standings with 772 points. He can still try to net one more point in Week 17 with a win.

Brett Barrett of Cleveland, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 755 points in the Custom Spraying GRT and will be looking to net on a 41. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is sixth with 730 points in the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star, and he will also be looking to net on a 41.

Corey Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) of Loudon, TN drove the Eagle Racing Engines Rocket to a sixth-place finish on Tuesday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway and earned 45 points in his 14th week of competition. That moved Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) up to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 712 points.

The top seven drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings have all reached the 14-week mark in their respective seasons, and the top 11 drivers in the point chase have earn their allotment of 100 Bonus Points.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 700 points, and he has one more week to earn full points in the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT. Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL is ninth with 691points in the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star, and can earn full points for two more weeks.

Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 689 points driving the Robinson Electric Rocket, and can earn full points for one more week.

Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action is scheduled for Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO. There are seven races on the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS Week 17 schedule for Saturday night.

Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN, Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will all host Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 17 races.

Bonus Points will up for grabs in two NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division races this Friday night and Saturday night at the 3rd Annual Delta Dirt Nationals at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. There will be a 40-lap $2,000-to-win race on Friday night, and a 50-lap $2,500-to-win event on Saturday night.

Eligible drivers can earn 25 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points for each NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division race they enter during the 27-week season. Drivers can earn up to 100 Bonus Points. They can also earn 25 Bonus Points for each four consecutive weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet WRS competition.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series compete against each other using a points system that counts their best 14 week point totals, plus up to 100 bonus points, over the 27-week season. They are competing for a $20,000 point fund that pays back ten spots at the end of the season. The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn a $10,000 top prize.

When a driver reaches the 14-week point in their season, they begin netting points by attempting to replace the lowest weekly point total in their 14-week total with a higher one. The points system for fields of eight or more cars is 50 points to win and one point less per position back to tenth. Drivers that finish tenth on back receive 41 points.

The points system for fields with less than eight cars pays 40 points to win, and one point less per position back through the seventh spot. Drivers that attempt to compete, but don’t start the main event receive 25 points. Drivers can compete in as many events as they can each week, but only their highest event point total counts for that week.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.

These engines are in stock and ready for free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast from NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA. The Chevrolet Performance 604 Crate Engine is on sale for $5,095 and the Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine is on sale for $3,195 at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA.
