Ponderosa Speedway Has $2,500 to win 10th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial on Friday July 27

Junction City, KY- July 22, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are set to close out the month of July with the 10th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial paying $2,500 to win for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, along with a full program of racing competition in all other divisions, on Friday July 27 at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”. This event was originally scheduled for Saturday July 28, but will now take place on Friday evening July 27. There will be no racing at the track on Saturday July 28.

The Friday July 27 event will be a full program of racing action featuring Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models racing for $2,500 to win. Also in competition will be the Clayton Homes Modifieds for $600 to win, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman racing for $300 to win, and Front Wheel Drives racing for $200 to win (four entries or more). The Late Model, Modified, and Sportsman will time trial, while Front Wheel Drives will pill draw for starting positions. All drivers will need to sign in at the registration window up arrival to the track and RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions. Also the highest finishing Late Model driver in the feature event utilizing a Crate engine will receive a $100 bonus, with the next highest finishing Crate engine car and driver receiving a $50 bonus.

Activities for the Friday July 27 event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:15 p.m. Time trials will begin at 7:45 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for Friday July 27 in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, children ages 6 to 12 will be $5, and children ages 5 and under are free with a paid adult. A pit pass will be $35.

The John Bradshaw Memorial event was added to the schedule in 2003 and Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY won the inaugural event. Benji Lee of Loretto, KY got the biggest win of his career by taking the victory in the 2004 event, while Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV won the 2005 event. Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN would take the win in 2006, with Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN taking the victory in 2007. Rob Blair of Titusville, PA would win the 2008 event in his only ever appearance at the track, while Victor Lee of Danville, KY picked up the win in the 2009 race. Eddie Carrier, Jr. would become the only repeat winner of the event to date with his win in the 2010 event, while Eric Wells of Hazard, KY picked up the win in the 2011 race and is the defending race winner.

Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday July 20 and feature event winners included Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Bartley Grant of Berea, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Rodney Foltz of Florence, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.

Current track championship points leaders heading into the Friday July 27 racing event are Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Brandon Holt of New Haven, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY.
