Rain once again halts racing at Elkins.
(Kerens, W.V. 8-03-12) Rain halts racing again at Elkins. That now sets up the biggest weekend in Elkins Raceway history! This Friday night (August 10) will now be the 2nd annual Jim Hitt Memorial for the Jenkins Ford Super Late Models for $5,000 to win. Plus $1,000 to win for the EDGE Racing League Budweiser crate Late Models, $800 to win for the Miller’s Used Cars TSMA Modifieds, $500 to win for the Valley Supply Street Stocks, and Mini Wedges. PLUS! a HUGE Fireworks display!
Then Saturday (August 11) will bring the 2nd annual Richard Skidmore Memorial with $7,500 on the line for the Jenkins Ford Super Late Models. The Hitt Memorial on Friday is a qualifier for the Skidmore as well. As the highest finisher in the Hitt race who doesn’t make the Skidmore, get a starting spot. Also on the card is the EDGE Racing League Budweiser crate Late Models for $1,000 to win. The Miller’s Used Cars TSMA Modifieds will run for $650. And the Valley Supply Street Stocks vie for $500. Plus Mini Wedges. All classes except Super Lates will get double track points as well.
General admission is only $15 per night! Friday night is the final night to use the June 29 armbands (the rained out fireworks) with an additional $5. The armbands from the rained out Hitt Memorial (August 3) will be an even exchange. Gates open both days at 6:00 pm with racing starting at 8:00 pm.
