Marlar, Reams, Decker, and Gregory Master Lake Cumberland Speedway

Burnside, KY-August 4, 2012- Lake Cumberland Speedway presented a full program of racing action on Saturday evening and Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN would pick up his first Super Late Model feature win of the season. Mikah Reams of Mount Vernon, KY would also be a first time at LCS by scoring the Modified feature victory, while Keith Decker of Somerset, KY would again be victorious in Super Dirt Stocks/Sportsman and Adam Gregory of Gray, KY would take the Front Wheel Drive win.

The Super Late Model feature would get off to a rocky start as a tangle in turn two on the opening lap of the event would block the track and draw a red flag. Three more cautions in the first three laps would slow the pace before action would go green for an extended period. Michael Asberry would have the race lead and would be pressured by Skylar Marlar until lap 10 when Marlar slipped up in turn one, allowing Asberry to pull away a bit. But Marlar would run down Asberry and the pair would be in a dead heat for the lead on lap 18 before Marlar would use a lapped car as a pick and make what would be the winning pass on lap 19. Marlar would pull away a bit and take the win aboard the PPM Racing Products/Martco/Gerald’s Auto Parts sponsored #257 PPM Racing Chassis, Estes Race Engines powered machine. Asberry would finish second, while Mike Strunk, Todd Coffman, and Tommy Gregory would complete the top five. Fifteen entries would see Asberry be top qualifier at 13.598 seconds and win a heat, while Marlar won the other heat.

Front row starters Tommy Bailey and Mikah Reams would duel side-by-side back and forth for the first six laps of the Modified feature event before Bailey would take the lead with a turn three slidejob pass on lap 7, but the pass would be voided when the caution flag waved for a Stacey Decker spin. Reams would go back to the point and would survive one more caution flag and hold off the charges of Bailey to take the feature win in the seat of the Robert Reams owned McKinney Tire/Napier Realtors/Asylum Racing Designs/Mount Vernon Fuel Center sponsored #19 Lightning Chassis powered by an Asylum Race Engine. Bailey would take runner-up honors, while Ben Petrey would finish third. Keith Denny and Jeff Renner would round out the top five. Twelve entries saw Bailey as top qualifier at 14.588 seconds and win a heat, while Reams would also win a heat.

Keith Decker would again have the dominant car in the Super Dirt Stock/Sportsman division feature event and would see the checkered flag first in the 15 lap event behind the wheel of his unsponsored #2 mount. Goble Bertram would recover from a lap 5 spin to take the second position, while Kevin Pedigo, Scott Hutchinson, and Scott Hensley completed the top five. Nine entries would see Bertram as top qualifier at 15.394 seconds, while Decker was victorious in the heat.

Adam Gregory would lead all 10 laps of the Front Wheel Drive feature event and pick up the win driving his Friends of Coal sponsored #22 entry. Nathaniel Harrison would finish second, with Brandon Holt claiming third. Daniel Buchanan and Rob Floyd would round out the top five. Six entries would also see Gregory be the heat race winner.
