CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 19 competition in the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season saw the Top 10 drivers in the point standings tighten up to within 52 points of each other, with just nine points separating the Top 6, for the $10,000 championship with eight weeks to go in the season.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA won his 20th and 21st races of the season, but he saw his point lead shrink to just three points. Trosclair dedicated his two Week 19 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series victories to his friend and crew member Kade Lavron, who lost his life in a motorcycle accident last week.

The first win for Trosclair came on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, and then he followed that up with a 40-point win on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special. Trosclair was able to net three points with Friday night’s win to bring his season total to 793 points.

Trosclair’s point total is represented by 100 Bonus points, ten 50 point wins, two 49-point second-place finishes, one 48-point third-place finish, and one 47-point fourth-place finish making up his best 14-week point totals. Trosclair is seven points away from a perfect score of 800 points.

Chase Washington of Houlka, MS drove the Jerry Inmon Racing Special to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS to net five points that brought his best 14-week point total to 790 points. Washington has 100 Bonus Points, seven 50-point wins, four 49-point second-place finishes, and three 48-point second-place finishes in his best 14-week point total.

Duke Palasini of Leland, MS earned 47 points in his 14th week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition on Saturday night with a fourth-place finish driving the Palasini Farms Special at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. That vaulted the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region Runner-Up to the third spot in the standings with 785 points.

There is a three-way tie for the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings among Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL, Ryan King of Seymour, TN, and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, all with 784 points.

Based on the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tie-breaker system, Shaw is technically fourth, as he has eight wins, King is fifth with five wins, and Lee is sixth with four wins. Shaw had his worst showing of the season in Week 19 with a 41-point finish outside the top ten in his 14th week of competition driving the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star.

King finished second on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger to net three points. Lee finished third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to net one point.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS was able to net 24 points with a second-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT. That brings Arnold’s best 14-week point total to 773, and the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings.

Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS finished third on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway driving the Custom Spraying GRT to net four points and hold the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 769 points.

Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS picked up his second win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in the Robinson Electric GRT. That netted Harrison nine points and moved him up to the ninth position in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 745 points.

Corey Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) of Loudon, TN rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 741 points. Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) was able to net one point after a ninth-place finish on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway driving the Eagle Racing Engines Special.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors will have a double opportunity to earn points during Week 20, as Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will present double feature races this Saturday night. The first feature will be a Week 11 make-up event, and the second feature will be for Week 20 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 19 action, Jimmy Cliburn of Jackson, MS took the $1,000 top prize with a win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Cliburn Racing Special. Greg Martin of Oliver Springs, TN drove the Biff Motorsports Special to his third win of the season on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway.

Thomas Lewis of Hamilton, GA picked up his second Nesmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL driving the Green’s Propane Gas Special. Chad Wallace of LaGrange, GA drove the Wallace Construction GRT to his third win of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS picked up his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star.

Joe Forman of Mountain View, AR and Robby Moore of Brosley, MO took wins in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 19 competition at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO. Forman took his first win of the season on Friday night driving the Sweet Caroline’s Antiques Special, and Moore drove the D&K Truck Repair Special to his fourth win of the season on Sunday afternoon.

Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL were both rained out on Saturday night. Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA did not report their Week 19 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series results.

Wins from Harrison and Wallace gave the defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR the point lead with a total of 25 wins on the season.

McDuffie’s win gave two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL its 24th win of the season and keeping them a close second in the standings. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third with seven wins on the season.

Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge point standings with six wins on the season. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fifth with three wins, and TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
