King Claims His Second SLM Win Of The Season
Eastaboga, AL (August 11, 2012) – After all the rains had settled in East Central Alabama, Talladega Short Track Drivers and Fans showed up in force for night of entertainment of hot dirt track racing action. The featured event of the evening was the Super Late Model Division. Quick Time was set by Ross Martin of Talladega, AL with a 13.232, Jackson Hale of Southside, AL with a 13.258 and third fastest was Tim Roszell of Anniston, AL with a 13.320. The filed was set for this 30-Lap feature. When the green flag was waved nothing but the thunder and roar of the machines filled the venue. Fans were on the edge of their seat witnessing three wide racing and passing all over the speedway. Dougie King of Anniston, AL started the event 3rd row outside and worked his way to the front of the pack to take the lead. King had his work cut out for him to hold off Hale from taking the winnings. When the checkered flag came out on lap 30, King would park his car in Victory Lane for his second win of the season. 2nd place was claimed by Jackson Hale and 3rd place to Terry Smith of Oxford, AL.
Adam Cummings took home the winnings from the Sportsman Division, 2nd place went to Tony Thompson and 3rd place to Josh Adkins.
Young Gun Bret Holmes claims his 2nd win of the season in the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Division, 2nd place to Grant Pearl and 3rd place was claimed by Austin Smith.
In the Thunder 92.7 FM Thunder Car Division, Zack Shelton took home the 1st place winnings, 2nd place Eric Smith and 3rd place went to Robert George.
Taylor Gowers of the Dorsey Supermarket Hot Shot Division drove his number 9 car to Victory Lane, 2nd place winnings went to Chase McAvoy and third to Cruz Skinner
Ross Maye wins 1st place in the Ponder Agency Farmers Insurance of Oxford Street Stock Division. Greg Wilkins takes 2nd place and third to Chad Purgahn.
Talladega Short Track will be back in action on Saturday, August 18, 2012 with the regular weekly divisions (no OWM). Kids night at the track on the 18th, Talladega
Short Track will be giving away a Boy and Girls Bicycle to the kids. Everyone is invited to come out for a family night of dirt track racing. Gates open at 5 PM.
