FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“The Ultimate” Is Now Bigger, Faster, STRONGER with $14,044 to Win and $91,000 Payoff!

(Hesston, PA) The fiercest event ever in the history of the Hesston Speedway just got more ferocious! With the massive success of the track’s Speedmonster events, promoter DR Eriksen has cranked up the volume for “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships” on October 11-12-13. This mammoth event will now feature a powerful payoff of $91,000 with a total of $14,000 to win and $900 to start for the Speedmonster/ULMS Super Late Models! Semi-Late Model Sportsman, B-Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners have also received pay increases for their 2012 “Challenger Super Championships.”

2 separate full racing programs will be run for the S³/ULMS Super Late Models during the weekend. On Friday, October 12, the Speedmonster Super Late Models will compete in the “Moonsault Scramble.” The 44 lap championship feature will now pay $4,000 to win, $300 to start and $155 for non-qualifiers.

“The Ultimate” will shake Motor Mountain on Saturday night, October 13 with a high-power, 71 lap championship feature. “The Ultimate” will pay $10,000 to win, $600 to start and $175 for non-qualifiers. This mega-race will be the 2012 finale for both Speedmonster and ULMS and will determine the champions of both series.

This amazing payoff will run deep into the field for all classes. Super Late Model drivers that attend both nights are guaranteed a minimum of $400 cash & prizes up to the top 50 non-qualifiers. Minimum non-qualifiers payoff for both nights is $325, plus the top 50 non-qualifiers will receive a $75 Frankland Racing Supply product card.

Official entry blanks with the full payoff have been released and may be found by going to hesstonspeedway.com, clicking the link to “The Ultimate” website and going to the entry forms page. Super Late Model car pre-entry fee for “The Ultimate” is only $50, a savings of $100 off the late-entry rate. The postmark cutoff for pre-entry is Monday October 1. “Moonsault Scramble” will have a separate $15 entry fee. Semi-Late Model Sportsman, A-Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners will have no entry fee!

Payoffs for the “Challenger Super Championships” for Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late models), A-Cadets (street/pro-stock), Hobby-Modifieds (pure/strictly stock/charger) and Roadrunners (stock fwd 4-cylinder) will have increased start and non-qualifier money for 2012 with the goal of having a payoff that benefits all drivers. Semi-Lates will pay $2,200 to win, $275 to start and $175 for non-qualifiers based on a 2-day show. The top 50 Semi-Lates will also receive a $75 Frankland Racing Supply product card, bringing their cash & prizes up to $2,275 to win, $350 to start and $250 for non-qualifiers up to the 1st 50 cars.

Cadets will race for $1,400 to win, $175 to start and $115 for non-qualifiers based on a 2-day show. The 1-day programs for the Hobby-Modifieds will pay $800 to win, $60 to start and $40 for non-qualifiers with the Roadrunners paying $500 to win, $50 to start and $35 for non-qualifiers. These classes will have no car entry fee for the event.

2011 the event had no rain date. For 2012, alternative plans have been formulated in case of inclement weather during the weekend in order to use Sunday, October 14 as a viable rain date.

If either Friday or Saturday are cancelled to weather, Super Late Models will compete in a full program on Sunday with a 44 lap championship paying $4,044 to win. If weather demands a 1-day show, Semi-Lates will pay $1,500 to win and Cadets will pay $1,000 to win. Friday pricing will apply to Sunday in all scenarios.

“The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships” originated at the Challenger Raceway and has found its new home at Hesston. All the elements that made the event a huge success in its final years at Challenger have been incorporated into the race at Hesston. The event is famous for huge car counts, excellent track prep, massive passing and winners from deep in the field. Hesston has become the perfect location to carry on PA’s greatest fall racing tradition. A full website dedictated to all event details may be found at hesstonspeedway.com, then going to “The Ultimate” website link.

Previous Super Late Model winners of the event since it was converted to “The Ultimate” include Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, MD in 2011 from 7th, Jason Covert of York Haven, PA in 2010 from 9th. Bart Hartman of Zanesville OH, in 2009 from 20th, Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, WI in 2008 from 12th and Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL in 2007 from 16th.

Multi-weight rules for each division will allow virtually every car in the region in the participating classes to be legal and competitive. Preliminary rules are posted to the track website and will be finalized by early September. Additional tweaks may be made to the posted rules after further review of area tracks rules, but no major changes are expected.

The event will kick off on Thursday night, October 11 with the “Track Test” open practice sessions. The track will be open for 2.5 hours of practice time for participating race teams. Race teams will also be able to secure their pit space for the weekend on that night.

“The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships are proudly sponsored by G & R Excavating & Demoltion, Frankland Racing Supply, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, American Racer, Lias Tire, Precise Racing, Dan’s Auto Body, Walters Auto Wrecking, Goshorn Racing Supply, Stone Valley Construction, Area Auto Racing News, Bollman’s Auto Salvage, Saxton Market and Full Performance Marine.

Mega-Payoffs & Unified Car Rules at “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships” at Hesston!

(Hesston, PA) The excitement continues to build for “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships” at Hesston Speedway on October 11-12-13. This mammoth event will pay out an incredible $91,000 to the race teams with strong payoffs from 1st to last. Official car rules for the race have now been released on the event website.

“The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships are proudly sponsored by G & R Excavating & Demolition, Frankland Racing Supply, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, American Racer, Lias Tire, Precise Racing, Dan’s Auto Body, Walters Auto Wrecking, Goshorn Racing Supply, Garlock’s Used Cars, Three Springs Mini-Mart, Stone Valley Construction, Area Auto Racing News, 4m.net, DirtonDirt.com, Bollman’s Auto Salvage, Saxton Market, Full Performance Marine, Family Treasures, Shirleysburg Garage, Holiday Bowl, Jim’s Anchorage, Dively’s Auto Body, Parks Garbage Service, Duck Roofing & Tree Service, Mike Duck Cash for Junk Cars, Marks Brothers Holdings, Sheffields Auto Sales, Brenneman’s Meat Market, Cassville Country Store, Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home, Whitsel’s Garage, Twin Oil Home Heating, Brown & Walters Insurance Agency, BDR Products, Donna’s Family Restaurant, K & K Driveway Sealing, Taylor’s Auto Body & RV Repair, PENNsylvania NETworks, Orbsonia Hardware, Georges Used Cars, Luciano’s & George’s Auto Body, Jack White Studios, Chilcote Auto Sales, Action Auto Service & Storage and Burn’s Septic Service.

Using the same formula that brought massive car counts to the Challenger Raceway when the event was held there, multi-category rules will be used in the Super Late Models, Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late model), A-Cadets (street/pro-stock) and Hobby-Modifieds (pure/strictly stock/charger). These integrated rules provide different weight categories for various equipment combinations, which allow virtually all cars in the region in those classes to be legal AND competitive at this event. Roadrunners (stock fwd 4-cylinders) will have one category which is similar at most track rules in the area. The winners of the feature events not only we be rewarded with top prize money, but also the true claim of being champion of their division on even competition grounds.

A payoff has been set for “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships” in keeping the benefit of the race teams in mind. Not only does the event pay fantastic win and start money for the features, strong tow money for non-qualifiers is also being offered to make sure attendance of the race is worthwhile for all race teams. With the high car counts and crowds at the mega-events at Hesston so far this year, promoter DR Eriksen has not hesitated to put together “The Ultimate” in a bigger, stronger, faster program for the fans and race teams for 2012.

Following is only a high-level summary of the various weight categories. All cars must meet all specifications listed in the Hesston Speedway rules. Race teams must go to http://www.hesstonspeedway.com to find the detailed rule specifications for each class.

Speedmonster & ULMS Super Late Models will headline the event with $14,044 total to win, $900 total to start and $330 total cash for non-qualifiers over the scheduled Friday-Saturday race dates. In addition the top 50 Super Late Model non-qualifiers will receive a $75 Frankland Racing Supply product card bringing total prizes for those non-qualifiers up to $405.

Unlimited aluminum block Super Late Models will weigh 2,250 with an 8” spoiler, steel block cars may weigh 2,200 with an 8” spoiler, spec motor cars may weigh 2,200 with a 12” spoiler and 4” nose spillboard and GM CT-525 cars may weigh 2,150 with a 14” spoiler with 12” height and a 4” nose spillboard. A standard open tire rule will apply using 11” tires with 16 ¾” maximum width and 93” maximum circumference. Because the track offers a Semi-Late division, steel head late models as well as 604 and 602 crate motor cars will not be legal to compete in Super Late Model.

Semi-Late Model Sportsman will combine area limited, crate and steel block late models also using weight and spoiler breaks. This division will race for $2,200 to win, $275 to start and $175 cash for non-qualifiers. Additionally, all feature starters and the top 26 non-qualifiers will receive a $75 Frankland Racing Supply product card bringing total prizes for those positions to $2,275 to win, $350 to start and $250 for the top 26 non-qualifiers. The Crate Motor Challenger will still be in effect paying $400 to the highest 604/602 crate motor car with a top 5 finish or $100 to the highest 604/602 crate motor finisher outside the top 5.

In Semi-Late Model Sportsman, all cars meeting limited 358 c.i. motor and equipment specifications in the Semi-Late Model Sportsman will be required to weigh 2,375 and may use an 8” spoiler. Open 358 c.i. steel block motor cars or open steel block cars up to 430 c.i will weigh 2,475 and also use an 8” spoiler. Sealed motor, 604 and 602 crate cars will be allowed to utilize a 12” spoiler and 4” nose spillboard with a weight limit of 2,275 for 604 motors and 2,200 for 602 motors. The tire rule for the Semi-Late Model Sportsman will allow 11”, 16” ¾” cross section, 93” circumference tires with 32 minimum hardness using Hoosier 15/1300 or American Racer 44 or harder compounds only. Hoosier FT200, FT400 and FT 600 are also approved. This tire compound rule is in place for this division as the high majority of area tracks that run these classes have similar compound rules.

Street stock and pro-stock type cars will compete in the A-Cadet class. With almost every track in the area having different rules in this division, this class provided the greatest challenge in combining rules. However, track officials have devised a set of rules that has already proven to work. In the last event at Hesston, 3 of the weight categories were present and 1 of each of those categories finished in the top 3 positions in the feature.

A-Cadets will pay $1,400 to win, $175 to start and $115 for non-qualifiers for the scheduled 2-day event. Spec 360 c.i. type cars meeting all motor and equipment specifications with a stock transmission/clutch will weigh 2,900. Spec 360 c.i. type motors with racing transmission/clutch will weigh 3,055. Standard 412 c.i. cars meeting all specifications listed in the rules will weigh 3,050. 602 crate motor cars will weigh 2,750. Top category, open-type cars will weigh 3,200 and will have a limit of 10 “exotic” items as outlined in the rules. A standard open tire rule will apply using 11” tires with 16 ¾” maximum width and 93” maximum circumference. An 8” spoiler will only be permitted on cars with 8” maximum wide tire tread, or cars using a 2-barrel carburetor meeting all listed specifications. No other type of spoiler or side spoiler will be permitted on any other car. All cars must have the rear completely enclosed by a 9” high panel, and 3” high fender flares are only permitted in the 3,200 category. All other cars must have flat fenders.

The Hobby-Modified division will allow area pure stock, strictly stock and charger cars to race together. The rules package for this class has also shown success with cars from the 2 categories present at the last event finishing 1st and 2nd. Their 1-day program will pay $800 to win, $60 to start and $45 for non-qualifiers. 305 c.i. stock-type cars meeting all equipment specifications will have a 3,150 weight limit with 350 c.i. stock-type cars having a 3,300 weight limit. The Top category allows more equipment modifications and has a 3,550 weigh limit. An H-category with a weight limite of 3,305 was created this season with rules similar to Hummingbird Speedway. All cars may run 8” maximum tires with E-mod-type hard and medium compounds being legal. No tire grooving is permitted. Top and H-category cars may have boxed interiors, but any air tunnels must be sealed off.

The Roadrunner division is for stock-type, front wheel drive 4-cylinders. The 1-day program for the Roadrunners will pay $500 to win, $50 to start and $35 for non-qualifiers. The tire rule for the Roadunners requires DOT approved, stock production passenger tires only. 65, 70 or 75 series & over—OK. No racing, winter tread or rough tread tires. No grooving or tire alterations. Must have DOT number and manufacturer’s logo intact. All 4 tires must be the same size. Racing tires manufactured with DOT numbers are not legal!

RACEceiver 1-way radio communication is required for all drivers competing in “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships.” RACEceiver rentals are not available at the track, but some units will be available for sale from Goshorn Racing Supply. Super Late Models and Semi-Late Model Sportsman will be required to have AMB (red) or Westhold (yellow) transponders. AMB units will be available for rental at the track at a cost of $25 for 2 days or $25 for 1 day.

Super Late Model car pre-entry for “The Ultimate” is $50 by October 1 with entry of $150 after that date. Friday’s “Moonsault Scramble” race will have a separate $15 entry fee. Official entry blanks may be found at http://www.hesstonspeedway.com. Semi-Late Model Sportsman, A-Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners have no entry fee,

In the event of inclement weather on Friday or Saturday, Sunday October 14 will be used as an alternative program rain date. If this date is used, Friday pricing will apply and Super Late Models will race for $4,044 to win on that date. If weather demands a 1-day program for the Semi-Late Model Sportsman, their feature will pay $1,500 to win while A-Cadets will pay $1,000 to win in a 1-day program is required.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hesston Welcomes Campers with Free Camping for “The Ultimate!”

(Hesston, PA) Anticipation continue to build for the region’s most exciting fall tradition, “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships” at Hesston Speedway on October 11-12-13. Speedway management has retained as many elements as possible of the event when it was held at Challenger, including welcoming campers with free camping on the speedway grounds.

Hesston has developed a plan for “The Ultimate” to maximize space and accommodate a large number of race fans and race teams. The Challenger Raceway always welcomed campers with free camping, and Hesston Speedway has designated 2 level areas to continue this hospitality. Campers may choose from the back hillside area of the back straight viewing ramp or in the field at the intersection of Race Track and Redstone Ridge Roads. With the addition of the new turn 4 main grandstand gate, both camping areas are just a short 5 to 7 minute walk from the main grandstand area. Additionally, a new small set of bleachers has been installed on the back straight viewing ramp for campers that wish to remain on that side to view the races.

Just a few reserved camping spaces are available for those that wish to guarantee a certain spot. These spaces are located on the front side of the back straight viewing ramp and overlook the Super Late Model pit area and ¾ of the track. These spaces are available for $30 for the entire weekend.

In order to allow campers to park for free, Hesston Speedway requests that the following guidelines be followed:

If a night is rained out and not rescheduled, admission tickets for that night will be refunded.

• Secondary free camping will be available at Eriksen Well Drilling at the intersection of Race Track Road and Redstone Ridge Road.

• For the Ultimate, camping is permitted beginning Sunday, October 7 at 12:00 noon. For other events, camping is permitted beginning Thursday at noon.

• All campers must register with track management upon arrival and will be assigned parking spaces. Campers must park in parallel rows to maximize space. No-self parking!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hesston Increases Super Late Model Payoff at “The Ultimate” to Reward High Car Count!

(Hesston, PA) It has been proven time and time again that the “Dirt Doctor” DR Eriksen rewards the race teams when they support Hesston Speedway. Throughout the last 2 seasons, countless payoff increases have been returned to the race teams after successful events at Hesston. With the impending high car count for Speedmonser/ULMS Super Late Models for “The Ultimate” on October 11-12-13 according to pre-entries, the “Dirt Doctor” has announced his next bonus program to reward drivers for attendance.

“The Ultimate” already features a total payoff for all divisions of over $91,000. Additional payoff will be added to the Super Late Models to reward high car count by adding feature starting positions. If the Super Late Model car count hits 70 or more at the “Moonsault Scramble” on Friday, October 12 or “The Ultimate” on Saturday, October 13, the starting grid for the Super Late Model feature will be increased to at least 28 cars. If the car count hits 75, 30 cars will star the feature that night!

The $4,000 to win “Moonsault Scramble” will pay $300 for 26th and $275 for any additional starting positions. “The Ultimate” will pay $10,000 to win, $600 for 26th and $575 for any additional starting positions. Non-qualifiers on Oct 12-13 will receive at least $330 total in cash for the 2 nights plus a $75 Frankland Racing Supply Product card to the top 50 non-qualifiers.

With the top-rated drivers in the East headed to the high banks of Hesston for “The Ultimate,” the “Dirt Doctor” has thrown down the gauntlet to generate one of the biggest car counts of Super Late Models of 2012. If the high car count goal is met, fans will get to see 28 or 30 high-caliber Super Late Model pilots battle for the top prizes on the racey 4/10 mile. To date, 76 Super Late Model drivers are pre-entered for the event. Any additional race teams that wish to participate are still eligible to enter at the gate. Car entry fee is now $15 for the “Moonsault Scramble” and $150 for “The Ultimate.”

“The Ultimate” is famous for excellent racing and winners from deep in the field. Jamie Lathroum from Mechanicsville, MD is the defending race winner, making a late-race pass to take the win from 7th starting position. Jason Covert of York Haven, PA won “The Ultimate” in 2010 from 9th on the grid. Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH won from 20th starting position in 2009. Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, WI has the honor of being the last Super Late Model winner at the Challenger Raceway, winning “The Ultimate” in 2008 after starting 12th in the feature and last in his heat race. Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL won “The Ultimate” from 15th in the feature after starting 8th in his heat race.

All the elements have been put into place for “The Ultimate” to be a world-class mega-event in 2012. Hesston has carried many of the traditions of Challenger forward to this edition of “The Ultimate.” High payoffs from 1st to last, unified car rules, the thrilling Challenger-type format, and high quality track prep promise to make this and event for all times. Hesston has produced outstanding racing in 2012 including Nick (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son’s 24th to 1st feature win at the opening Speedmonster Super Late Model race in June on the high banks of Hesston.

The weekend also includes the “Challenger Super Championships.” Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/steel block/crate late models) will pay $2,200 to win, $275 to start and $175 for non-qualifiers plus a $75 Frankland Racing Supply card for the top 50 overall cars. A-Cadets (street/pro-stock) will pay $1,400 to win, $175 to start and $115 for non-qualifiers. Hobby-Modifieds will race for $800 to win, $60 to start and $45 for non-qualifiers with Roadrunners (fwd stock 4-cylinders) paying $500 to win, $50 to start and $35 for non-qualifiers.

Alternative racing programs, pricing and payoffs have been set if the event utilizes the Sunday, October 14 rain date or is condensed into 1-day due to weather. If either Friday or Saturday is cancelled, Friday pricing and Super Late Model payoff will apply to Sunday.

Full details on “The Ultimate” including schedule of events, payoffs, pricing, car rules, camping policies, lodging and any other aspect of the even may be found at the http://www.hesstonspeedway.com. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“The Ultimate” Is Back in Full Force at Hesston Speedway this Weekend!
(Hesston, PA) “The Ultimate” is Pennsylvania’s greatest fall Super Late Model event and is back in full force for 2012 at its new home at Hesston Speedway. This $91,000 mega-event will span over October 11-12-13 and all signs indicate that this is going to be a spectacular event! All the elements that made the event so incredible when it was at the Challenger Raceway are present at Hesston this year. Speedmonster/ULMS Super Late Models will headline “The Ultimate” with a total of $14,044 to win.

With strong payoffs from 1st to the last non-qualifier, a stellar line-up of over 80 Super Late Model drivers have pre-entered for the event with a discounted entry fee incentive. Because of the expected car count, “Dirt Doctor” DR Eriksen will increase the Super Late Model starting grid to 28 cars if 70 cars are present each night up to 30 cars if 75 are present. This should be a rare opportunity for fans to see the best drivers of the East battle with a professional-size increased starting grid.

Speedmonster/ULMS Super Late Models will race for a total of $14,044 to win, $900 for 26th and $330 minimum for non-qualifiers on the scheduled Friday-Saturday show. Additionally, the top $75 non-qualifiers will receive a $75 Frankland Racing Supply product card on top of the great payoff! Friday’s “Moonsualt Scramble” will feature a full Super Late Model racing program with a $4,044 to win championship with “The Ultimate” on Saturday showcasing another full racing program with a 71 lap championship paying $10,000 to win!

“The Ultimate” will also settle the 2 series titles for 2012. With 2 full-points programs, this event will be pivotal in the final point standings. Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, PA holds just a 4 point lead in the Speedmonster Super Series over Nick (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son of Lewistown, PA. Both drivers have wins and 2nd place finishes at Speedmonster events this year, with Satterlee’s small lead coming from his heat race wins. Jeremy Miller of Littlestown, PA sits in 3rd just 8 more points behind 1st place, with Jerry Bard from Shippensburg, PA in 4th 14 points out of 1st, Jason Covert of York Haven, PA in 5th. Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA, Scott LeBarron of Dillsburg, PA, Jeff Rine from Danville, PA, Jack Pencil of Bedford, PA and Dylan Yoder of Selinsgrove, PA round out the top 10. With only a 30 point difference from 1st to 10th the Speedmonster Championship is up in the air.

Boom Briggs looks destined to be crowned the 2012 Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series champion as he has 59 point lead over “the Captain” Jason Dupont. Briggs needs to finish 16th or better to capture his second ULMS title as he was the 2010 champion. Both Briggs and Dupont are still looking for their first ULMS win of the season. Mike Knight sits third in points with Matt Lux and Greg Oakes rounding out the top five point cars.

4 other divisions will compete in the “Challenger Super Championships.” Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late models) will race for $2,200 to win, $275 to start and $175 for non-qualifiers plus a $75 Frankland Racing Supply card for the top 26 non-qualifiers for the 2 day program. A-Cadets (street/pro-stock) will pay $1,400 to win, $175 to start and $115 for non-qualifiers for the scheduled 2-day race. Hobby-Modifieds will pay $1,000 to win, $60 to start and $45 for non-qualifiers on Saturday thanks to Bedford County Tree & Lawn Solutions of Everett. Roadrunners will race for $500 to win, $50 to start and $35 for non-qualifiers on Friday.

Alternative racing programs, pricing and payoffs have been set if the event utilizes the Sunday, October 14 rain date or is condensed into 1-day due to weather. If either Friday or Saturday is cancelled, Friday pricing and Super Late Model payoff will apply to Sunday.
