ULTIMATE Super Late Models Headed for 311 Speedway Saturday, August 25th

Pine Level, North Carolina – The stage is set for drivers from all around the region to take on the ˝ mile 311 Speedway this Saturday night, Augdut 25th. The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will finally make their first appearance of the 2012 season at the facility located just outside of Madison, North Carolina. A bevy of weather, scheduling and other issues have preempted 2 previous scheduled ULTIMATE events at 311. But Saturday’s $4000 to win 2nd Annual Terry Wiles and Steve Setzer Memorial event is full steam ahead. “The ULTIMATE Series is so excited about finally getting back to 311 Speedway. Last year Jonathan Davenport and Steve Shaver had a fantastic battle back and forth. It looked like Shaver had it sewn up coming to the checkers and then he broke giving the win to Jonathan. It was just an exciting event. And we certainly expect this one to be just as exciting. We have a pretty tight points battle going on and 311 is a place that could make a major impact on that.” said ULTIMATE Series Director Kelley Carlton.

New 311 Speedway Promoter Steve Stultz is really ready for the event. “We have had a few rain outs already and that hasn’t been fun at all. I am ready to get this one in for our great race fans. The track has been in excellent shape. My brother Blake has done a great job with preparing it every week and we are going to work hard again this week to give these guys a great track to race on. We just need Mother Nature to be kind to us now and we will have ourselves a great race.” Stultz said. The 2nd Annual Terry Wiles and Leon Setzer Memorial will be headlined by the 40-lap ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series event and will also feature racing in the FASTRAK Weekly-Sanctioned Pro Late Models, Pro 602 Late Models, Limited Sportsman and Stock 4 divisions.

Many of the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series drivers hold high regard for the 311 also known as the “Daytona of Dirt”. Daniel Baggerly, currently second in series points, counts 311 among his favorite tracks. “I have always like 311. We have run pretty well there in the past. It’s very fast but it’s also usually pretty racy and you can move around where you need to and you can pass cars. The surface usually holds up really well and it has become one of our favorite places to race over the last couple of years. We need to come in and run well again and try to make up some more ground on Casey (Roberts) if we are going to have any shot at this championship.” Baggerly said. Along with Baggerly and Roberts series regulars Casey Barrow, Zack Mitchell and others will be in action. And with most of the other series in the region dormant, several interlopers such as Dennis Franklin, Ricky Weeks, Johnny Pursley among others could be in competition along with local racers like Steve Blackburn, Raymond Brown, Jimmy McCormick and others.

Pit gates are scheduled to open at 4 PM on Saturday with the grand stand gates opening at 5 PM. The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
