West Virginia Motor Speedway’s 1st Annual “Buzzy Topless Classic” Opens the 2012 Season at the ‘Plant!
Mineral Wells, WV (08/21/2012) – West Virginia Motor Speedway’s (WVMS) newly reconfigured 4/10 mile dirt oval swings into action on Sunday, Sept. 16th with the ADRA Super Dirt Late Models headlining the event along with unsanctioned Modifieds and the Tri-State Modified Association’s (TSMA) HotMod class.
The ADRA sanctioned “Buzzy Topless Classic” for the super late models will be a 30 lap, $3,000 to win, $300 to start A-main. Unique to the ADRA series schedule for 2012, the super dirt late models in this race will be “topless”, removing the roof and sheet metal supports. This will allow fans to watch their favorite drivers work their “craft” around the 4/10 mile track.WVMS will be paying the $40.00 ADRA registration fee for each Super Late Model that enters the event. Please note, pit passes are separate and are not included in the registration fee.
“Our inaugural event for the new track at WVMS is named out the respect we have for Buzzy Holliday. He’s a long time racer in this area and is currently our track preparation manager.” said Lynn Chapman, head of Mountain State Motorsports Promotions. “His enthusiasm for this new track in contagious. As much work and effort that Buzzy has put into this track, naming the event after him is the very least we could do!”
The $1,200 to win, $200 to start Modified event will go unsanctioned with an open tire rule. American Motor Racing Association (AMRA), United Midwest Promotors (UMP) and TSMA rules apply. The TSMA HotMods round out card with a $400 to win, $60 to start A-main.
Pit gates open at 2pm, general admission gates open at 4pm. Driver’s meeting will start at 5:30, hot laps begin sharply at 6:00pm. The 30 lap super dirt late model A-main is guaranteed to be on the track by 8:30pm. “Since we are going to start racing early Sunday evening, I want our fans to know that we are aware they have to work Monday morning.” said Chapman. “With that said, our program will be very efficient and I promise our fans that the ADRA Topless Super Late Model A-main will be on the track by 8:30pm. Our job as a racetrack is to entertain the fans and keep them engaged.”
General admission tickets for the event are $18.00, pit passes $32.00, Kids 10 and under are FREE in general admission only. Tickets will be available at the gate on the day of the show. No alcohol will be allowed to be carried in.
