Hey guys, im wondering how to get more sidebite. The car is an absolute rocket on mediocre tracks where this is a tad of grip but not all the way burned up yet. I know there are alot of posts about dry tracks and getting to hookup but im looking for specifics. Here is everything about my car. It seems like it enters decent, then in the middle it just unloads and slides. It continues to slide until i get it completely straight then takes off fairly well so basically im asking from just before apex until about 7/8 through the corner. Here is some info.

2007 DW 11

Scale numbers w/ driver
Left 53 %
Rear 57.5 %
Cross 51.5 %
100 LR bite

Bar angles
LRU 28 RRU 14
LRL 2 RRL 0

LRU 46 at full drop

J bar 1 inch below pinion
7 inch rake

Pullbar 7 degrees pinion angle
22 inches long
20 degrees

Springs 650 750
225 175 before you start on the springs, the rf needs to be that heavy in order to not bottom the shock out

RR leading LR by 1/8 inch

Shocks - bilstein

4/4 7/3
3/7 3/3

Im really stumped..any ideas?

i was having the same problems so i went out this past week end on are week off and hot laped mine i have a dw12 i had 7.5 in rack in j bar. I took it down to 5.5 and got a lot of side bite. What is happen is with the j bar having that much rack is it is acting like a pogo stick lower it down. Lover spring in front to 650 and 600 you will just have to be a little better with the gas . And for the shocks try and get a hold of some AFCO or QA1 nongas you will ilke it better you can feel the car more JMO

have owned dw6 dw7 dw8 dw9 dw12

Lowering the j-bar lowers the roll center which will make less weight transfer to the RR, the car will roll more but less weight transfer.

Are you on or off gas when it slides?

Thank you for your input. Oldtrack..basically sliding both on and off the gas..i would say more on the gas..but only until i get the car pointed straight, then it goes forward like a dream.

I have been heavily thinking about putting a straight bar on it and get rid of the j bar. What are peoples experiences with the straight bar. Im thinkin either to the left side of pinion in front or to that one bottom hole in the pinion plate. How much rake/angle?

I would try adding another 1/8 in forward on the RR and another 20-25 lbs LR bite. If you don't want to try those, set LR full drop to 50.5-51.5 deg and soften RR spring. Don't try both suggestions at the same time. Works for me. JMO

Any thought about the straight bar instead of the j bar? What would be good starting points for the pinion and rake/angle?

Put your fuel cell high as possible
Move the J bar 1.5 up on the pinion side
Put your battery as high as possible

Have never run a straight bar, so i don't have any suggestions.

How much stagger you running?
Straight bar the longer you use, the less rake needed. 12in or less, use 5-6in rake, longer try 3-4in. Put it in hole below center of pinion on a 9in. Good luck.

start with it up on the pinion. I like somewhere in the 15-20 degrees of rake range to start. You'll have to play with it to find where you like though. More rake = more erratic. less rake = more smooth, but less roll, less drive. once you narrow in on how much rake you like, then go down even on the pinion and frame as the track slicks. you can add a little rake too, but i wouldn't do too much. word of caution, it's not real good with rough track, and it *can* be more difficult in traffic. Just takes a little getting used to. that being said, can work real well. up high will give you more side bite, and can also benefit from a heavier RR spring.

Looked thru all my papers and found article from Mark Bush." You should use at least a 16 in left side straight bar with it mounted center of yoke on quick change and 1- 1.25 in below center of pinion on a 9 in and having 3-3.5 in of rake. If the car is loose on entry, drop the right lower bar on the chassis, stiffen the left front spring and/ or soften the compression control of the right rear shock to tighten decelaration handling". Hope this helps.

225 175 before you start on the springs, the rf needs to be that heavy in order to not bottom the shock out

1. Update the car so it can roll more onto the RF.
2. Did you ever feel it bottom out or were you just going off the shock bumper?
3. once you have updated the car so it can roll further onto the RF then i would get some softer front springs.

Where is your RR spring located ? 175 may be too soft. Body roll doesnt help unless it pushing the tire down to the ground. You may stiffen it and actual stick it harder and get more body roll.
