“THE ZACK ATTACK DOMINATES THE “JIM DUNN MEMORIAL ADRA NEXT STOP THE 1st ANNUAL BUZZY TOPLESS CLASSIC AT WVMS 9/16 “
Point Pleasant, WV. Aug. 28, 2012~The ADRA Super Dirt Late Models presented by Suddenlink had the honor of officiating the “Jim Dunn Memorial” race at the Malta Windows and Doors Midway Speedway Sunday August 12. Fans saw 36 Late Model competitors from WV, OH, KY, PA, IN, and even Michigan pack the pits for this historical 40 lap event. “The Zack Attack” Zack Dohm in the #17 Rocket from Crosslanes, WV would take the lead from Chris Garnes is the #42G Swartz from Evans, WV on lap 1. Dohm would never look back as he proceeded to command the lead in spite of several courageous attempts by “The Million Dollar Man” Donnie Moran of Zanesville, OH in the #99M to take that lead. In spite of a flurry of passes made throughout the field this event was hampered by only 1 caution and the Prodigy went on to take the $5000 win in front of a record crowd!!! Zack is 1 of 3 Dohms racing in our region. The Dohm patriarch, “The Show Stopper”, Tim Dohm, won the 5th event on the ADRA schedule on August 3rd at Jackson County Speedway. Younger brother Nick Dohm has recently made a return to action after being off for several weeks recovering from a painful foot surgery. Zack carried the torch for the family winning his 1st Jim Dunn Memorial and his 1st ADRA event. Zack also has a 3rd place ADRA finish from Hilltop Speedway and a 4th place ADRA finish from Muskingum County Speedway and currently holds the 5th place spot in the ADRA Super Dirt Late Model championship points right behind his dad in who holds 4th: The Dohms are 1of 2 Father-Son teams in the top 10 in ADRA points and of 3 Father-Son teams in the series. Tyler Carpenter and Freddie Carpenter hold 7th and 8th. Donnie Moran’s son Devin holds 13th after missing the “Jim Dunn” due to a broken arm suffered from a non-racing accident. www.midwayracing.com

The ADRA Super Late Models next stop will be the WV Motor Speedway known as “the Speed Plant” in Mineral Wells, WV for the 1st Annual Buzzy Holiday Topless Classic on September 16th. This will be a 30 lap topless event with no ADRA entry fee for the drivers. WVMS promoter, Lynn Chapman, has graciously offered to cover that cost for the drivers. This event will pay nearly $13,000 in purse money with $3000 up for the win. Starting the 1st Annual Buzzy Topless Classic feature will guarantee a $300 minimum pay day. www.wvspeedway.com

This will be the 7th event of 10 on the ADRA schedule for 2012 with “Hot Rod” Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, OH leading the points coming in. Conley has entered every event in 2012 and was the ADRA’s very 1st Super 8 Dash winner. Being 1st is a tradition Conley started in 2011 as he was the series 1st event champion after winning the inaugural ADRA sanctioned Freedom Fighters 40 at Moler Raceway Park in May of 2011. www.moleracewaypark.com

The ADRA Super Dirt Late Models have had 6 different winners in 6 events. The top 10 in ADRA points is chalked full of the regions very best ranging from 2nd place Russ Frohnapfel the “Franklin County Flyer” who has been thrilling fans for over 31 years to the 21 year old “Kamikaze Kid” Tyler Carpenter who has absolutely blasted onto the Late Model and Modified scene taking multiple wins in both classes and running 7th in AMRA LM points, 9th AMRA Modified points, and 7th in ADRA points right behind the “Million Dollar Man” Donnie Moran in 6th. Moran also has an ADRA win in raced#2 at Muskingum County Speedway. There is more, 3rd place is held by our ADRA Weekley Electric Mid-Season Champion Doug Drown who has chalked up an ADRA win at Jackson County Speedway in the Twin 25 Super Mixers. “The Show Stopper, Tim Dohm, is in 4th with an ADRA win. The 8th spot belongs to none other than “Fast Freddie Carpenter” who has yet to race in an un-borrowed car this season and continues to run in the front, taking Hard Charger awards and Heat wins. Greggie Oliver winner of the ADRA Qualifier, 2 top 5’s and a Hard Charger award holds 9th. The TSMA Hotmods, an exciting new class which has grown over the past few years, will be on hand as well. The Hotmods combine a professional looking car design that is a real race car with economic rules that make it possible for a driver to enter the sport competitively for minimal costs. The Open Wheeled Modifieds will also make their maiden voyage on the newly configured 4/10th mile semi-banked clay oval. This event will allow any car meeting AMRA, UMP, or TSMA rules to participate using an open tire rule. The stage is definitely set for a grand re-opening at “The Plant” as the field is filling in quickly with some of the best not only in the region, but the best anywhere already committing in all 3 classes. Everyone is a rookie on the newly configured track and the fans will be the benefactors as the driver start a new notebook on the “Beast of the East”. The ADRA Super Dirt Late Models presented by Suddenlink will return to WVMS on October 6th for race #10 after a 2 race Epic Weekend September 28th and 29th at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, OH.
