Ponderosa Speedway Announces Details Concerning Remaining 2012 Racing Events

Junction City, KY- August 30, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are pleased to announce details concerning the remainder of the 2012 racing schedule at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”.

The track will be closed on Friday August 31 for the Labor Day holiday weekend and will also be off on Friday September 7 for the World 100. Racing will resume on Friday evening September 14 with a Fan Appreciation Night that will feature $6 general admission in the grandstand area. The track will then be off on Friday September 21 and Friday September 28 before closing out its 2012 racing season on Saturday evening October 6 with the 22nd Annual Fall Classic that will pay $5,000 to win for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, $1,000 to win for Clayton Homes Modifieds, $500 to win for Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and $300 to win for Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.

The next scheduled event at Ponderosa Speedway will be on Friday September 14 and will be Fan Appreciation Night, featuring a full racing program for all four weekly division in competition at the track. Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models will be racing for $1,200 to win, Clayton Homes Modifieds will be racing for $600 to win, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman will be racing for $300 to win, and Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives will be racing for $200 to win (four entries or more). Due to the overwhelming response and support from the race fans at the August 24 Colston Paving 60 event, the track wanted to give something back to the race fans for their support. Ticket prices for the September 14 Fan Apprecation Night in the general admission area will be only $6 for adults, with children ages 6 to 12 just $3, and children ages 5 and under free. Pit admission will remain $30. The concession area will also have a special all evening long as hot dogs will be just $1. Plans are also being put together to honor former track champions in all divisions at the track as well on this evening.

Ponderosa Speedway will close out its 2012 racing season on Saturday evening October 6 with the 22nd Annual Fall Classic. The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models will race for $5,000 to win, Clayton Homes Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman will race for $500 to win, and Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives will race for $300 to win. More information concerning times, admission prices, and full payouts will be released in a future press release.

Ponderosa Speedway would like to congratulate those drivers that earned cash bonuses and contingency awards at the Colston Paving 60 event on August 24. In the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Model division, Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV and Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY earned $100 each for the top qualifiers in their respective groups at the event courtesy of Windows and Door Outlet of Richmond, KY. Heat race contingency and cash winners included D.J. Wells of Wooten, KY ($100 from Graphic Impressions), Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY and Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY (Sunoco Race Fuel Gift Certificates), and Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN (All Star Performance Gift Certificate). In the Clayton Homes Modified division, Ricky Arms of Moss, TN earned a Gift Certificate from Hoosier Tire for the being the top qualifier for the division for the night and Brent Denny of Paint Lick, KY received the Hard Charger award in the Modified A-Main and earned a Gift Certificate from American Racer Tire.

Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday August 24 and feature event winners included Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Ricky Arms of Moss, TN in Clayton Homes Modifieds, and Derek Bottoms of Taylorsville, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman. The Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives were not in action.

Current track championship points leaders heading into the Friday September 14 “Fan Appreciation Night” racing event are Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Brandon Holt of New Haven, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.
