Ponderosa Speedway Off September 7; Fan Appreciation Night on Friday September 14

Junction City, KY- September 2, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz will take off this Friday September 7 for the World 100, but will return with a very special event on Friday September 14 as it will be “Fan Appreciation Night” at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”. Fan Appreciation Night will feature half price general admission and $1 hotdogs at the concession area all night long, along with the track recognizing former track champions from past seasons.

Ponderosa Speedway will be in action on Friday September 14 and will feature a full racing program for all four weekly division in competition at the track. Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models will be racing for $1,200 to win, Clayton Homes Modifieds will be racing for $600 to win, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman will be racing for $300 to win, and Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives will be racing for $200 to win (four entries or more). The Late Model, Modified, and Sportsman will time trial, while Front Wheel Drives will pill draw for starting positions. All drivers will need to sign in at the registration window up arrival to the track and RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions.

Activities for the Friday September 14 Fan Appreciation Night will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set for 7:20 p.m. Time trials will start at 7:45 p.m., while racing will take the green flag at 8:30 p.m. For Fan Appreciation Night, ticket prices in the general admission area will be only $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 to 12, and ages 5 and under will be free. A pit pass will be $30.

Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday August 24 and feature event winners included Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Ricky Arms of Moss, TN in Clayton Homes Modifieds, and Derek Bottoms of Taylorsville, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman. The Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives were not in action.

Current track championship points leaders heading into the Friday September 14 racing event are Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Brandon Holt of New Haven, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday and selected Saturday evenings from April through October of the 2012 race season.
