Weight and weight only if they are the same otherwise. Iron will actually make a bit more power.

Aluminum: lighter and can be repaired.Needs 1/2 point more compression to make the same hp as an exact copy of cast iron.
Cast Iron: no reason to run them except when rules require them.Hurt them and they are junk.

Thats true at a lot of tracks but with steel heads and steel block its normally not possible to meet their minimum weights. The guys that write the rules don't have racecars.

Save the weight and you can hang lead where it needs to be

And the really good roll over heads that flow a lot of air (18*, 15*, 12*, 10*, SB2.2, etc) are aluminum and, for the most part, iron heads are the old 23* stuff...And even the very best 23* head, the AFR 245 with a great CSA and no pinch port is only in aluminum...These heads will flow 350 cfm +

If the rule reads Steel 23 degree heads only, I agree but if it reads ANY steel head, their are 14 degree steel heads being made now and they are badass. Id go that route, make the horsepower and still get the weightbreak!!!
