Dereck Ramirez Claims Trio of Top Ten Finishes; Fall Jamboree Next

Woodward, Oklahoma (09/11/12) – Dereck Ramirez contested four events in three days over the weekend with the Casey's USMTS tour in his #4r Ramirez Motorsports/Hughes Race Car/Pro Power Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified and registered a trio of top ten finishes along the way.

The weekend opened on Friday evening at Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) with not only a complete $4,000-to-win event, but also the make-up feature from the August 15th feature, which was postponed by rain. In the $3,000-to-win make-up feature Dereck started in the thirteenth position before advancing one spot to finish thirteenth.

In the new program on Friday night, which was part of the Casey's USMTS National Championship Series, a field of thirty-one competitors converged on the facility, and a ninth to third run in his heat race sent Ramirez to the redraw, where he was presented with the eighth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. After racing in the top ten throughout the event Dereck crossed the finish line in the eighth position.

Saturday evening again found the team at Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) as another $4,000-to-win Casey's USMTS National Championship Series program was contested. Thirty-seven drivers registered for action, and after passing five cars to finish third in his heat race Dereck found himself in the redraw for the second straight night. The redraw would be much kinder to Ramirez than the night before as he was presented with the third starting spot for the 40 lap finale. He raced in the top five for the duration of the event before recording a third place finish behind race winner, Jeremy Payne, and Kelly Shryock.

The ultra-busy weekend drew to a close on Sunday evening at Granite City Speedway (Sauk Rapids, Minnesota) with a $3,000-to-win race. Twenty-three entries were on hand for the program, and via preliminary action Ramirez earned the seventh starting spot for the 40 lap feature. During the course of the event he clawed his way forward to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Stormy Scott, Ryan Gustin, and Jason Hughes.

Dereck finished eighth in the final Casey's USMTS National Championship standings and is currently ninth in the latest Hunt for the Casey's USMTS Cup battle. Full results from all four events as well as the latest point standings are available at www.USMTS.com.

Ramirez Motorsports will not be in action this coming weekend, as they now turn their attention to the 14th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree for the final three rounds of the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup. Slated for Thursday-Saturday, September 19th-22nd, at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, MN), the Featherlite Fall Jamboree is America’s undisputed marquee event for Open Wheel Modified racing. Thursday will pay $3,000 to win and Friday’s feature winner gets $4,000. On Saturday, the winner of the 50-lap main event will pocket $6,000 while the winner of the Non-Qualifiers Race will earn $2,000. Over $200,000 in total payout is on the line during the course of the event. For more information on the mega-event please visit www.DeerCreekSpeedway.com and www.USMTS.com .
