JIMMY MOWERY’s TOPLESS SHOWDOWN SPLIT CRATE and STEELHEAD LM’s + PONY STAMPEDE…. 10/13
Cleveland, TN (09/19/12) – Cleveland (TN) Speedway officials are proud to announce the annual JIMMY MOWERY race, for Saturday night, October 13th 2012. A full gamut of big money races will populate the night of action at the 1/3 mile high banked clay oval beginning with the separation of Steelhead and Crate Late Models for a pair of TOPLESS SHOWDOWN’s. The Linited of Steelhead Late Model racecars will highlight the card with a $3,000 to-WIN / 48 lap, Main Event, while the Crate LM’s will compete for a separate $1,200 to-WIN / 30 lapper. Due to a recent rain-out, the Pony STAMPEDE: STACEY McALISTER Memorial event is also on tap for the 4-cylinder type cars, paying a $1,027 purse to the winner of the 27 lapper.
Local racing insider and owner/promoter Ronnie Willkomm will carry on the tradition of these event at the Cleveland dirt track racing facility which has hosted the memorials honoring these two local racers for many seasons. In 2011 the Georgia Bandit Grady Stokes pocketed the Stacey McAlister Pony special and Jason Welshan won the Jimmy Mowery race. This event will be the first time Cleveland Speedway has separated the LLM/Crate division into two races. The event will be a Non-Points for the LLM (Steelhead) and Crate races but will remanin a Double Points race for the Pony class. All three division will follow Cleveland Speedway's 2012 rules.
A full regular racing program in all divisions; A & B Hobby, and FWD's are on the undercard along with the special TOPLESS SHOWDOWN and PONY STAMPEDE. Qualifying will head up the normal format for the three main classes . Pit gates will open at 3PM EST on October 13th with Grandstand Gates opening at 4PM. The Driver’s Meeting is slated for 7PM and Hot Laps scheduled shortly thereafter.
