Rick Eckert Heads to Berlin Raceway Second in WOOLMS Point Standings

(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) Rick Eckert and his #24 team resumed the World of Outlaws Late Model Series portion of their 2012 schedule over the September 14-15 weekend in the states of Illinois and Missouri. On Friday night at the tiny Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Illinois, a $12,000 top prize was on the line in the inaugural running of the 'Photobilly 50.' Rick laid down the seventh fastest lap around the 1/5-mile oval during qualifying, but later dropped a driveshaft leading his heat race. After taking a series provisional to advance into the 50-lap main event, "Scrub" drove past thirteen competitors to salvage a steady tenth place finish.

Saturday's action took the Rick Eckert Racing team to the Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri for the $10,000 to win 'Pepsi Nationals.' Rick timed in fifteenth quickest during WOOLMS qualifying and later grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the eighth row in the 55-lap feature event, the York, Pennsylvania native drove his Team Zero mount to a quiet fourteenth place performance. Rick still finds himself second in the latest version of the series point standings following the double-dip. Full results can be viewed online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.

Next up for the Rick Eckert Racing team will be another World of Outlaws Late Model Series showdown on September 21-22 in the Wolverine State of Michigan. The Keyser Manufacturing ‘Down & Dirty 100’ will be held this weekend at the renowned Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. Over 300 truckloads of clay has covered the 7/16-mile asphalt oval in preparation for the $20,000 to win mega-event. Qualifying and heat races are scheduled for Friday night, while the consolation races and the 100-lap A-Main are slated for Saturday evening.
