CARTERSVILLE, GA - NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials, competitors, fans, and sponsors are mourning the loss of Hoosier Racing Tire's Founder Bob Newton, who passed away today at the age of 84. Mr. Newton was a short-track racing pioneer that began building specially designed tires for short track racing in 1957 and his company name the color purple that is associated with it has become one of the most recognizable names and logos in all of motorsports. Godspeed Bob Newton and thank you for your influence, vision and contributions that have helped make short-track racing what it is today. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy are with the Newton Family, as well as the Hoosier Racing Tire distributors and employees.
