what kind of maintinance needs to be done to bearing birdcages and what all is done to a quickchange rearend in the off season to refresh it?

Bearing birdcages:
Take shocks and bars loose every few weeks and give them a spin or two to move all the bearings around.
They are sealed so the lube that is in there isn't coming out and little to no dirt gets in. But if you really want to you can pop the seals out with a little blade screw driver or knife and add grease, oil, whatever. But I was told by the guy at TWM to leave them alone and that by popping the seals and trying to put them back I was just increasing the odds that they wouldn't seal right and end up with dirt in them.

Rear-end:
We put new seals and o-rings in ours every off-season to deter leaks and look over everything for odd or excessive wear. If you have a Winters, check out their catalog online. They have the complete rebuild process with torque specs, tolerances, etc. for doing a complete overhaul.
