6th Annual Gumbo Nationals at Greenville Speedway this Weekend

Greenville, Mississippi (10/03/12) – In just one more day it will be time to set the gumbo on fire as the 6th Annual Gumbo Nationals will come to life at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) on October 4th-6th, 2012.

Anticipation is at an all-time high for this event as this weekend the track could arguably see one of the most talented, Super Late Model fields ever assembled at the 1/4 mile oval. This year's edition of the event will feature the richest Super Late Model payout ever at the facility, with a total purse boasting over $33,000 for the Super Late Model division alone with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) sanctioning the event for the first time ever.

Super Late Model pilots will compete in a $7,500-to-win/$700-to-start, 75 lap event. In addition to the added money in the Super Late Model feature, a last chance qualifier for the division will be held, which will give drivers a chance to win additional money.

Super Late Model pilots, who have voiced an intent to chase the big money this weekend include defending champion, Bub McCool, Klint Byars, Billy Moyer Jr., Ray Moore, Jack Sullivan, Chris Wall, Timothy Culp, Scott Dedwylder, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Morgan Bagley, Rick Rickman, Kyle Beard, Dane Dacus, Brian Rickman, Chad Thrash, Jeremy Broadus, Ross Camponovo, Greg Fore, Scott Creel, Leon Henderson, and many more.

On Thursday, October 4th an Open Practice Session will be held. Friday, October 5th will see qualifying as well as heat race action contested for the Super Late Model division. Saturday night, October 6th will be headlined by a pair of b-main events, a last chance qualifier, and the 70 lap finale. Following the twin b-mains, there will be a last chance qualifier where the first six cars, who didn't transfer from each b-main to the feature will go to war in a 12 lap event, where the top two cars will move on to the feature, while the other ten finishers receive some extra cash.

This new format is devised to give the racers more chances to get into the show, a chance for more drivers to take home money, and to give the fans more bang for their buck.
