Chilton Sweeps 8th Annual Ironman Classic/Border Wars Weekend at Lake Cumberland Speedway

Burnside, KY-October 13, 2012- Lake Cumberland Speedway would present the final night of the 8th Annual Ironman Classic/Border Wars Weekend on Saturday evening and Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY would make it a weekend sweep by picking up the $5,000 to win A-Main for Super Late Models on Saturday evening. Other feature winners at the 2012 season finale for the track included Ricky Arms of Moss, TN in Modifieds, Keith Decker of Somerset, KY in Super Dirt Stocks/Sportsman, and Thomas Scenters of Richmond, KY in Front Wheel Drives.

The Super Late Model feature would see Michael Chilton take the race lead after a failed start when Buzz Williams would contact the outside retaining wall in turn three. Chilton would lead, followed by Chris Combs and Vic Hill. The only major incident of the event took place on lap 4 when Brad Neat and Ricky Arms made contact in turn three, with the pair tangling and collecting six other cars in the process. Back underway, Chilton scooted away from the field a bit only to be slowed by the last caution of the race for Kenny Cobble who had slowed in turn four. The remainder of the event would go green and Chilton would continue to hold off the dogged advances of Combs as the racing groove narrowed up as the event wore on. Chilton would take the checkered flag first aboard his Central Painting/Chilton’s Lawn Care/Dial Painting/FYS Race Products/Blue Moon Farms sponsored #97 Revelution Chassis, powered by a Bullock Race Engine. Combs and Hill would finish second and third, while Tanner English and Victor Lee would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Dustin Neat, Brad Neat, Justin Rattliff, Skylar Marlar, and Tim Tungate. Twenty-three entries saw Dustin Neat as the overall top qualifier at 13.863 seconds, while heat race checkered flags fell to Combs, Hill, and Chilton, with Tungate scoring the B-Main win.

Tommy Bailey would lead the first 18 laps of the 25 lap, $1,000 to win Modified feature event before suffering a flat right rear tire and pitting, only to return. This turn of events would hand the lead over to Ricky Arms and Arms would hold off the charges of Mikah Reams and Elliott Despain to score the win in the seat of the Randy Davis owned NAPA Auto Parts/Arms Body Shop sponsored #4 Lightning Chassis. Reams and Despain would take second and third, while Keith Denny and Tim Patrick rounded out the top five. Completing the top ten in the rundown would be Jeff Rawlings, Berneil Mills, Mike Strunk, Ricky Tinch, and Tony Garber. Bailey would be the top qualifier among 21 entries at 15.093 seconds, while heat race wins went to Bailey, Arms, and Despain.

Keith Decker would return to his dominant ways in picking up the final Super Dirt Stock/Sportsman feature win of the season behind the wheel of his unsponsored #2 machine. Donnie Sullivan would finish in second, while Darrell Cain would finish in the third position. Johnny King and Joe Barnett would complete the top five. Eight entries would also see Decker pick up the heat race victory.

Thomas Scenters would make his first appearance at the track and capture the Front Wheel Drive feature victory in the seat of his Pro-Tow Recovery/Cole Motorsports/J&J Race Bodies sponsored #3jr machine. Charles Burton and Ron Brown completed the running order, with Scenters also winning the heat.

what does that nonsense above mean? Oh, I guess you may be wondering if Brandon punched out Chris Tilley again this year? Or maybe your just mad about your purse being in the crapper?
