4412 Holley

What can I do if anything to a 4412 Holley to make it perform the best it can without boring it out. The tracks I run have a gage rule 1 3/8 top and 1 11/16 bottom plate. So is there anything i can do to make it perform better. Any help will be great.

Unless the motor is well built with port work and big cam/compression/RPM the 4412 is too big to start with on a 4 cylinder. You dont really say much about the engine it is on. Put it on a stock or close to stock 2.3 and it will be a plug.

2.3 .40 over stock crank 5.2 rods and about a 480 lift cam. I've always ran a 500. Shaved head no work on head. Stock intake big tube header

Kick me if I'm wrong but I believe the 4412 came in 2 air flow ranges, a 500 cfm and and 350 cfm. Which do you have? My observation is that too many racers think the bigger the better. And that ain't necessarily so. If you have a 500 it may be overflowing to the point that you think you don't have enough. Step down and work your way back up. You may find that if you go to the 350 you might have better performance over the entire RPM range.Just thinking.

I have a 500 I've never tried a 350 know some guy that have and they went to the 500 they said they performed better.

What are your Rules, with regard to allowed intake manifold & head work? What are your cam Rules? What is the size & type of header you're running. Are you required to run a muffler? Under the Rules, what is your max allowed geometric compression ratio? What is your rpm range? What fuel are you allowed to run, or must run? Have you ever had the race car on a chassis dyno for a good carb tune? -Dave-

Stock intake, shaved head no port work at all, any hyd cam, schroder its the big tube under car header yes mufflers are a must. No compression rule 7 to 8k rpm, we run racing fuel, and no never had any dyno testing or tuning at all. stock 2.3, 5.2 rods

i agree a 500 is too much...you need a 7448 holley 350

My carb of choice is the motorcraft carb.A cleaned rebuilt motorcraft will preform flawlessly for years,and never have problems with pull over.For moderate built engines run the 2100,for larger engine builds run the 2150.And I have to agree with the previous post,larger usually isn't better.A proper sized carb for the engine build and track configuration will give you best results.

Also 7-8 K for RPM's on a unported head is not going to be making big power at all. Best RPM I ever had nomatter what cam I chose with a stock port was 6800 after that it was flat. Re-working the area behind the valves got me to about 7200 before it fell off.

We ran Webers on our BMW and Toyota. Never had any serious problems.

No such thing as a 350 cfm 4412...A Holley 4412 is a 500 cfm 2 bbl...They make a 7448 which is a 350 cfm 2 bbl...

The Model 2300 HP has a 350 cfm & a 500 cfm rating, and they look the same, but one is part 4412, the other 7448
