Smoky Mountain and SRRS season finale coming November 3rd with Triple Crown Brawl
Southern Regional Racing Series finale set during TOPLESS event at SMS

MARYVILLE, TN (October 24, 2012)—The 2012 season for Smoky Mountain Speedway is coming to a close.

The season-ending “Tearin’ the Tops off Triple Crown Brawl” on Saturday evening November 3rd will complete a huge season of racing at Smoky Mountain Speedway which will see the 18th and final Southern Regional Racing Series points racing event as they will crown their 2012 season champion and run the event which pays the event winner $3,000.

This will be the third and final appearance of the Tullahoma, TN-based Southern Regional Racing Series. The series produced two different winners in their June and August appearances to the lightning-fast Smoky Mountain speed-plant with Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC capturing the June race and Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN laying claim to the August win respectively. In 17 events so far, there have been 13 different winners with Aaron Ridley claiming the most season victories at three. Todd Morrow of East Ridge, TN has two back-to-back season event wins with Ray Cook claiming the exact same.

In addition to the Topless Super Late Model event, the Limited Late Models will run Topless paying $2,500 to win while the Crate Late Models will race for $1,000 to win (10 car minimum or Crates will run with the Limited Late Models). The Modified Streets are scheduled to run for $2,000 to win with 20 or more cars, or $1,500 to win with 15 or more cars and $1,000 to win with 10 or more cars.

Entry fees for track’s supporting divisions will be as follows: Crate Late Models $25.00 entry fee; Limited Late Models (Fall Brawl rules) and Modified Streets (Fall Brawl Rules) $75.00 entry at the gate or $50.00 pre-entry; those pre-entries can be mailed for Limited LM & Mod Street to SMS, P.O. Box 6136, Maryville, TN 37802. As a reminder, the Limited Late Models, Crate Late Models and SRRS-sanctioned Super Late Models will be running Topless that night. The Modified Streets are not running Topless.

Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN dominated the first three Late Model events held at Smoky Mountain Speedway by capturing the Southern All Stars $5,000 event on April 14th then taking the USLMS event on May 26th and also the June 16th Southern All Stars Big Daddy 500 event. Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC holds two wins at Smoky Mountain. Cook took $3,000 in the Southern Regional Racing Series-SHOWDOWN event win on June 30th as well as the USLMS event on July 7th. On July 17th Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN took the $3,500 win during the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series’ first-ever visit to Smoky Mountain during a thrilling race with Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC. On August 11th Billy Ogle Jr. ended his Bridesmaid slump and captured the $3,000 victory as the Southern Regional Racing Series for the annual Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic and backed up that win as he rolled through a month of various East-Tennessee victories and the King of the Mountain 50 win on Saturday September 22nd sanctioned by the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series.

On Saturday November 3rd the Pit gates will swing open at 2:00 pm and Grandstand/Tier Parking gates opening at 4:00 pm with Driver’s Meeting slated for around 5:00 pm. Adult General Admission is $20.00 with Children 6-11 being $5.00 and five and under admitted free. In tier parking, it’s $25.00 for adults while children 6-11 are $10.00 and five and under admitted free. Adult Pit Passes are $35.00 while children 11 and under are admitted for $15.00.
