MARYVILLE, TN (November 3, 2012)—Billy Ogle Jr. passed Skylar Marlar on lap 13 to go on to lead the remaining laps but Tommy Kerr passed Ogle coming off turn four to go on to WIN in the Southern Regional Racing Series-sanctioned $3,000 Food City sponsored Tearin’ The Tops Off Triple Crown Brawl at the Smoky Mountain Speedway in what was an attrition-filled event. Other event winners included Greg Estes in the Street Stocks, Josh Collins of Seymour, TN in the Fall Brawl $2,500 Limited Late Model main event and Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN in the Crate Late Model special.

The Maryville, TN driver, who started ninth, led at the finish line while driving the Blount Motorsports, Explosive Specialists, Bearden Oil Company, Cherokee Millwright & Mechanical and Massey Electric sponsored Custom powered Rocket Chassis to the $3,000 victory. This was first win of the year at the Speedway, first-ever on the SRRS tour. Kerr became the 14th different winner in the 18 season events. In post-race ceremonies, Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN was crowned the 2012 Southern Regional Racing Series champion.

Dash winner Skylar Marlar and overall Fast qualifier Billy Ogle Jr. led the field of 24 to the green with Marlar jumping to the early lead but a car spinning in turn four called for the first of several yellow flags. The next start was brought back because of pole-sitter Skylar Marlar jumping the start. On the second lap, the next yellow would come out for Derek Ellis slowing in turn two. On the seventh circuit, just as Billy Ogle Jr. was going into one for a pass on Marlar for the lead, David Crabtree slowed with debris hanging on his car in turn three. On lap nine after contact with Tommy Kerr, Vic Hill came to a complete stop at the entrance to the turn one infield pit area then turned back around and went to the outside pit. On the 13th lap, the yellow would fly as Skylar Marlar slowed after contact with Ogle who had just took the lead from Marlar. Marlar showed his displeasure with Ogle before exiting the race track. On the 14th lap debris on the front chute would again bring forth another yellow but the final yellow of the race came on the 27th lap as Jason Welshan slowed in turn four with smoke barreling from the mount.

At the line for the finish it was Kerr, who had chased down Ogle during the last green flag run, Jacob Grizzle third, Brett Miller fourth and Mike Weeks fifth.
