CARTERSVILLE, GA – The Top 10 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will be honored at the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Annual Awards Banquet on January 12, 2013 at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum in Dawsonville, GA. The highlighted driver today is the 7th-Place driver Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS.
Arnold accumulated 787 points in 33 races with a Weekly Point Average of 49.07 out of a possible 50, and drove the #747 Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT to three wins. Arnold had two victories at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, and one win at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS. Arnold also had 23 top five finishes and 25 top ten finishes.
During the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season, “The Hattiesburg Hustler” earned points at four different tracks. Arnold had 14 starts at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park, eight starts at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, seven starts at Pike County Speedway, and four starts at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
This season marks Arnold’s third appearance in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings. Arnold was the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Championship Runner-Up in 2009, and looked to be one of the favorites going into the 2010 season.
A highway accident in April of 2010 left Arnold with serious injuries that kept him on the sidelines until late August. Arnold came back in 2011 to finish fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.
