... Actually, it's not even close and the 2013 Race Fan Survey hosted by RacingIn.com proves it!
Here's the full article on the initial results that, if you're as excited to continue growing local racing as we are, should be shared far and wide with Promoters, Race Directors, Track Marketers, etc...

RacingIn.com, 1/6/13: Plain and simple... while many in the racing world talk little about racing beyond big names in national racing series, the reality is that interest in grass roots racing is GROWING.
As the only resource connecting every race fan with any racer, anywhere and more than 1,400 race tracks across the United States, RacingIn.com is proud to report that in 2012, more than 480,000 Fans of Fast used it's Race Track Directory (http://www.racingin.com/track/) to find local racing! That's nearly a HALF MILLION Fans of Fast looking for local racing and it's a 73% increase over 2011. Plus, there's even more great news on the horizon!
Here's a quick snapshot of the early results of RacingIn's 2012-2013 Race Fan Survey as distributed to over 28,000 Fans of Fast via Facebook and direct e-mail...
* 78% of Race Fans went to watch racing at local tracks the same or more in 2012 as compared to 2011
* 77% attended local DIRT tracks the same or more in 2012 as compared to 2011
* 63% attended local ASPHALT tracks the same or more in 2012 as compared to 2011
* 59% attended local DRAG RACING events the same or more in 2012 as they did in 2011
Obviously, people who enjoy local racing are doing it more than they did the previous years, but the story doesn't end there.... 61% of race fans who completed the survey acknowledged that they're looking forward to watching racing at tracks MORE in 2013 than they did in 2012! Even more specifically...
* 79% plan to attend more local DIRT tracks in 2013
* 42% plan to attend more local ASPHALT tracks in 2013
* 34% are actually planning on attending more national NASCAR races in 2013, and
* 23% are planning on attending more local DRAG RACING in 2013
