Hesston Speedway Finalizes 2013 “All Championship” Schedule

(Hesston, PA) Hesston Speedway has finalized the details for its high-power 2013 season schedule. The track will continue its trek as a major force in late model racing with an exciting 7 event schedule. All 7 events will be championship events with increased payoff and feature race distances. Headlining the schedule are 5 Speedmonster Super Series events leading to “The Ultimate” in October.

Over the past 2 season Hesston has established itself as a major force in late model racing and the destination for fans to see high counts of top-quality drivers. In 2012, the track averaged 41 Super Late Models and 29 Semi-Late Model Sportsman for a total average of 70 late model type cars and Speedmonster events averaged 144 cars. Hesston will continue to use the same formula which generated these massive car counts. Strong payoffs at Hesston run through the field into and even into the non-qualifiers positions. Hesston’s integrated rules sets for all classes allow virtually any car in the area in the divisions to be legal and competitive.

The 2013 season will blast off on Saturday, May 4 with the “Night of Power.” The Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/steel block/crate late models) will headline this race with a 30 lap championship paying $1,000 to win. A-Cadets (street/pro-stocks) will run 25 laps for $700 to win. Hobby-Modifieds (pure/strictly stocks) will compete in a 20 lap championship for $400 to win. Roadrunners (fwd 4-cylinder stock) will be on the program with a 17 lap championship paying $250 to win. The Penn-Mar Vintage Coupes will also visit the high banks on opening night.

All 5 Speedmonster Super Series events will be co-sanctioned by the region’s premier series, 3 State Flyers. The 1st of 5 Speedmonster races will take place on Sunday, May 26. “Mega-Blitz Mach 3” will showcase 3-33 lap late model-type features in one night. Tthe Speedmonster/3SF Super Late Models will compete in twin 33 lap championships paying a total of $5,200 to win. Semi-Late Model Sportsman will race in a 33 lap championship for $1,000 to win. A-Cadets will race for $700 with Hobby-Modifieds racing for $400. The rain date for “Mega-Blitz” is Sunday, June 16.

If the rain date for Mega-Blitz is not needed, the “Checker Flag Championships” will take place on that night with Semi-Late Model Sportsman paying $1,000, A-Cadets $700, Hobby-Modifieds $400 and Roadrunners $250 plus the Penn-Mar Vintage Coupes once again. This will also be “Kidz Nite” will special prize giveaways for kids throughout the night.

Semi-Late Model Sportsman and A-Cadets will race in a full racing program with Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners competing in a feature-only program to accommodate the 5 divisions in one night. The rain date for “Revolution” is Sunday, July 7.

The “Eriksen Grand Prix” on Sunday, July 28 will honor track founders Sonny and Peggy Eriksen. The 44-lap Speedmonster/3 State Flyers Super Late Model championship will pay $4,000 to the winner. Semi-Late Model Sportsman, A-Cadets and Hobby-Modifieds will round out the 4-division program. The rain date for the “Eriksen Grand Prix” will be the following Sunday, August 4.

“Superthunder Road” will roar on Sunday, September 1 with a 44-lap Speedmonster/3 State Flyers Super Late Model championship paying $4,000 to the winner. The 2013 season will conclude with “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships” on October 10-11-12. Last year, a total of 183 race teams invaded the Hesston high banks during “The Ultimate’ weekend. Hesston has cranked it up for this year’s event with more high-powered racing action. This year’s spectacular race will carry a total payoff of $100,000 and will be a “total late model invasion.”

For the 1st time ever in the region, 3 full-blown late model divisions and series will be in competition at this 1 mega-event with at least 4 late-model type features during the weekend. The Speedmonster & 3 State Flyers finale will include 2 separate programs with a total of $14,444 to win. The Steel Block Bandits will return to the high banks of Hesston for the Semi-Late Model Sportsman Super Championship paying $2,500 to win for the 2-day show. The RUSH Pro/Crate Late Models will make their 1st ever appearance at Hesston also paying $2,500 to win for a 2-day show. A-Cadets will compete for $1,500 and Hobby-Modifieds will race for $900 over the 2 days of racing. Hesston will be the site of “The Ultimate” late model experience in 2013.

Reserved hillside parking spaces are currently on sale for 2013. Fans that held those spaces in 2012 have until January 31 to renew and pay. Any available spaces will go on sale to the public on February 1. Reserved regular season hillside spots in 2013 include 6 events from the “Night of Power” to “Superthunder Road.” Reserved parking for “The Ultimate” and “Moonsault Scramble” in October will be available separately.

“Motor Mountain” is located in the scenic Raystown Lake and mountain country of central PA and provides a wonderful opportunity for race fans and race teams to make a complete weekend getaway when attending the racing events at Hesston. Promoter DR Eriksen has transformed Hesston into a showplace in just two short seasons, with additional improvements on the drawing board. Major expansions have given the track more seating, parking and pit space to accommodate these major events. All fans are provided an excellent view of the action, with grandstand seating and drive-in viewing built high above the racing surface. Hesston welcomes campers and now offers in track-camping on the back straight viewing ramp.
