well I managed to bend the balance bar on my pedals, problem is that the local hardware store only carries the 5/16 all thread in grade 5 and not 8. will 5 work or an i just going to end up bending it again?

That's probably what it was originally. Maybe Fastenal or Grainger carries a grade 8 if its even made? How did you bend it in the first place?

only thing i can think of was i cut a rear brake line when i ran over some debris, when i lost pressure and the oh chit moment set in i probably "over worked" the pedal. i didnt even think about grainger, thanx for the help

I thought it was reverse threads on each end my balance bars have a ball on the center for it to pivot in the pedal

Check your threads, I think the threaded rod is 3/8 NF. Fastenal should be able to get it for you.
