Personally if I could run vortecs I would expecially if I had them hands down. The class we run now we are not allowed to run them so if you throw them out let me know would be interested in buying.

The GM 882 head is a stock truck head, not built for performance applications, and has been known to be very prone to cracking. I would definitely go with the Vortecs, better performance, and definitely a better head.

See but I've heard vortecs are not good at handling rpms though

I read a bit more into the original post, and the 906 Vortecs and 882 heads have about the same track record. The Vortecs will perform better, as long as they hold up, but the 882 may last longer with those RPM's, and I am using the word "may" very loosely. Some of the 906 castings were good, and some were bad. They say that not all two heads are the same, and it applies well with the 906 Vortecs. It would really be your choice.

72 you are right! Not all 906 vortec's are the same I believe there are American made but not many, Canadian made these are very good and last Mexican made these are junk. I believe they are stamped with a M or C. I'll find out. What i did is go to a Gm performance dealer and bought a new set for this year's motor for the price you can't beat it.
