I have an old M & M mod with a Crown Vic front clip (IMCA mod). It uses the original spindles and rotors with metric calipers. Has anyone used something lighter for spindles? Pinto maybe? How about steering linkage.

We use the Original Spindles with the metric brake stuff. I don't think the big chevy stuff interchanges But I was told to use the interceptor drag links and steering arms and gear box in the later model right before it switched to rack and pinion for better ackerman bumpsteer and the box is quicker

The newer box is lighter also. The Crown Vic spindles and rotors are so heavy, I just wondered if someone had a lighter setup that we could put on.

Yes it is. But I am only kidding about the rack & pinion steering.

switched to pinto spindles on my Mach 1. They say to use 1" longer upper balljoints when changing them from the stock crown vic spindles.

the newer crown vic stuff is pretty tall. looks pretty good, but does not use a converntional balljoint. The stock spindles have to be machined to work.

Just out of curiousity, how are you guys using the metric calipers with the crown vic spindles,

Thanks Andy

M&M had an adapter bracket to use the metric calipers. I don't know if they still sell it.

Call Mike at (309) 796-4610, he owns and builds these cars in Colona, IL. Nice guy to work with and is very good with the Crown Vic stubs.
