Ponderosa Speedway Open Practice March 29; 2013 Season Opener Slings the Clay April 5

Junction City, KY- March 10, 2013- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are anxious to begin the 2013 racing season and the time to sling the clay is just around the corner, with practice night set for Friday March 29 and the 41st annual season opening event slated for Friday April 5 at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”.

The track will host an open practice for all divisions (Super Late Models, FASTRAK Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Front Wheel Drives) on Friday evening March 29 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Gates times and admission prices will be announced prior to the week of practice taking place.

The 41st Annual season opening event will take place on Friday evening April 5 featuring a full program of racing action for all five weekly divisions. The Super Late Models will race for $1,200 to win, FASTRAK Late Models will race for $600, Modifieds will race for $600 to win, Sportsman will race for $300 to win, and Front Wheel Drives will race for $200. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and racers will need to have them in use every time they are on the racing surface.

As previously mentioned, there will be five divisions of racing competition at Ponderosa Speedway in 2013, featuring Super Late Models, FASTRAK Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Front Wheel Drives. The weekly racing feature payout schedule for each division in 2013 will be as follows:
-Super Late Models (25 laps): 1st- $1,200, 2nd- $600, 3rd- $500, 4th- $400, 5th- $350, 6th- $300, 7th- $250, 8th- $200, 9th- $175, 10th- $150, 11th- $125, 12th through 18th- $100 to start.
-FASTRAK Late Models (20 laps): 1st- $600, 2nd- $350, 3rd- $300, 4th- 250, 5th- $200, 6th- $175, 7th- $150, 8th- $125, 9th- $100, 10th- $85, 11th through 18th- $75 to start.
-Modifieds (20 laps): 1st- $600, 2nd- $350, 3rd- $300, 4th- 250, 5th- $200, 6th- $175, 7th- $150, 8th- $125, 9th- $100, 10th- $85, 11th through 18th- $75 to start.
-Sportsman (15 laps): 1st- $300, 2nd- $200, 3rd- $150, 4th- $125, 5th- $100, 6th- $90, 7th- $80, 8th- $70, 9th- $60, 10th- $55, 11th through 18th- $50 to start.
-Front Wheel Drives (12 laps): (Four or more entries)- 1st- $200, 2nd- $125, 3rd- $100, 4th- $90, 5th- $80, 6th- $70, 7th- $60, 8th- $55, 9th- $50, 10th- $45, 11th through 18th- $40 to start.

Also, fans can still participate in the picking of theme music for each division for the 2013 racing season at Ponderosa Speedway. The deadline to cast your vote is Wednesday March 20. To participate in the voting, race fans have to pick a song for each division and their nominations can be sent in by the following means: 1.) Email to track media consultant Michael Despain at mgdespain@windstream.net; 2.) Visit the Ponderosa Speedway Facebook page and post your vote there; 3.) By replying to the press release that is posted on www.4m.net, www.mrmracing.net (under general racing forum), or on the Eastern KY Racing Message Board site under the Ponderosa Speedway section; 4.) By texting choices to (270) 572-1227. For nominations to count, individuals must select a different song for each of the five divisions.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings from April through mid-October of the 2013 race season.
