Lake Cumberland Speedway Presents 33rd Season of Racing Action Beginning Saturday April 6

Burnside, KY-March 10, 2013- Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove is excited to begin the 2013 racing season at Lake Cumberland Speedway as the track known as “The House of Hardcore Mayhem” kicks off the racing season on Saturday evening April 6, with a pair of practice dates set prior to the season opener on the Saturday afternoons of March 23 and March 30.

The practice dates prior to the 2013 season opener will be on Saturday afternoon March 23 and Saturday afternoon March 30. All gates will open at 12:00 Noon for both practice events, while practice laps will begin at 1:00 p.m. both days. Prices for both practice days will be FREE in the general admission area, while a pit pass will be $20. All racers and fans are invited to visit both days.

Lake Cumberland Speedway will kick off its 33rd season of dirt track racing action on Saturday evening April 6 with a full program of racing competition that will feature Super Late Models, Modifieds, Super Dirt Stocks, Road Hogs, and Front Wheel Drives. The Super Late Models will race for $1,000 to win, Modifieds will race for $600 to win, Super Dirt Stocks will race for $300 to win, Road Hogs will race for $250 to win, and Front Wheel Drives will race for $150 to win. There will be an eight (8) car minimum in the Super Dirt Stock, Road Hog, and Front Wheel Drive divisions. Track points will begin on Saturday May 4 and will run to the conclusion of the 2013 racing season.

The Super Late Model division will see numerous special events throughout the course of the 2013 season. The Shelby Johnson Lawn Service 40 will pay $3,000 to win on Saturday May 4, while the Southern Kentucky Showdown will also pay $3,000 to win on Saturday June 8. The Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) visits LCS for the first-time ever for a special Sunday evening program, the Firecracker 40, on Sunday June 30, paying $3,000 to the winner. A double-header of action will go on Friday July 19 and Saturday July 20 as the inaugural Summer Showdown will take place, with the Super Late Models racing for $2,000 to win on July 19 and $5,000 to win on Saturday July 20. The 5th Annual Harold Hardgrove Memorial will be contested on Saturday August 3 and will pay $4,000 to win, with the inaugural Topless Tango taking place on Saturday September 14, with the Super Late Models racing with the tops removed from those machines and the winner collecting $3,000. The Autumn 40 will kick off the month of October on Saturday October 5 paying $3,000 to win, while the season concludes on Friday October 25 and Saturday October 26 with the 23rd Annual MAC Metals 75 Lake Cumberland Classic, paying $10,000 to the winner. There will also be $2,000 to win events for the Super Late Models on April 20 and August 17. Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY was the 2012 Super Late Model track champion.

The Modified division will also have a number of extra paying events on the docket as well for the 2013 racing campaign. The Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win on Saturday May 4, while a trio of $1,200 to win events also are on the schedule as well. The $1,200 to win events for the Modifieds will take place on August 3 at the Harold Hardgrove Memorial, September 14 at the Topless Tango (and Modifieds will also race with the tops removed from the cars at this event), and at the Lake Cumberland Classic event on Friday October 25 and Saturday October 26. The open-wheel warriors will also have an $800 to win special on June 8 as part of the Southern Kentucky Showdown. Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY was the 2012 Modified track champion.

The Super Dirt Stock division returns once again for competition at Lake Cumberland Speedway in 2013 and will their top paying event be a $400 to win special as part of the Lake Cumberland Classic on October 25 and October 26, with other special events to possibly be added. The Road Hog division will be in competition at Lake Cumberland Speedway in 2013, with division rules being similar to the Sportsman divisions at Ponderosa Speedway and Richmond Raceway. The division will have a $500 to win special on Saturday May 17 and will race for $400 to win as part of the Lake Cumberland Classic October 25 and October 26. The Front Wheel Drive division will also be back in competition for 2013, with the division also being open to rear-wheel drive entries as well this season. The top money event for the class will be $400 to win at the Lake Cumberland Classic October 25 and October 26, with other special events to possibly be added. Keith Decker of Somerset, KY was the 2012 Super Dirt Stock track champion and Rusty Light of Nancy, KY was the 2012 Front Wheel Drive track champion.

Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
