I wish that I had 800HP to know the answer.

Engine builders love to put 1.59 Venturi stuff on to
Make big dyno numbers but for something that starts and races well you should have something between a 1.410 and a 1.460

We have 800hp+ and have a 1.59 Braswell, but only use it on big momentum tracks...Most of the time we run a Willy's 750 for crisper low end response...

How much hp you have is not a good way to size a carburetor.Much more important is cubic inch and rpm intended.Formula for size is cubic inches divided by two times max rpm divided by 1728

Advertised cfm isn't a good way to choose one. Measurements and knowing what works for the application is the best way.

We run a BD1010 Headed 430 most of the time 98% of the time I use a KB 650 carb on it. The motor loves it I guess because it speeds and sharpens the air flow.

Totally agree that cubes and RPM is the correct way to determine carb size. That being said, let's not forget about volumetric efficiency. I'd be interested in knowing if anybody had some numbers on VE for their engines and would be willing to share.
