March 30, 2013 Twin Cities Raceway Summary and Results, April 6th next show!
After weather postponed racing the past two weekends in a row, Twin Cities Raceway Park, “Thunder on the River” opened gates for it’s season opener this past Saturday, March 30, 2013. Mother nature finally played nice, with fans making their way to the track enjoying 60 degree weather and sunny skies. Lot’s of folks showed up in anticipation to see the newly renovated facilities, and to enjoy a night filled with late model, superstock, modified, purestock and hornet racing!
Back in action at the track, late models roared to life again as a permanent weekly part of the regular show! The late model feature had fans on the edge of their seats as a local favorite Jeremy Hines battled his way to victory lane over Steve Barnett, Chris Streeval, Bill Sheets and Joe Godsey, rounding out the top five.
Kenny Carmichael took the checkers in the modified division, with Joe Godsey, Michael England, Broc Barton and Clayton Perry following.
The Super stock feature had Rick Gumm starting in the front row, jumping out to a substantial lead early on with Marty Cooper giving chase challenging for the lead. Rick hung on and sewed up his second feature win of the year so far. Troy Clark piloted his car in for 3rd , with Chris Hillman and James Wilson rounding out the top five.
Mark Bruce was able to put his #11 purestock into victory lane over Mickey Hines, Corbin McRoberts, Willy “Popcorn” Sallee and Jason Basham.
The hornet division gave the fans quite a scare with Justin Patterson flipping his green hornet early in the night. Fans were relieved to find out he was checked out and ok. Matt Hamilton was all smiles in winners row after winning the feature. Jeff Patterson, Colton Sullivan, Felicia DeWeese and Justin Dalton rounded out the top five that division.
