Conley Motorsports, Inc. Opens Up Season at Florence Speedway’s Spring 50

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) The 2013 racing season finally kicked-off for the Conley Motorsports, Inc. team on Saturday night, March 30 at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky, as Rod and R.J. Conley competed in the 37th edition of the 'Spring 50.' The unsanctioned showdown at the 1/2-mile complex boasted a $5,000 top prize. R.J. laid down the fourth quickest lap of the 27 entrants during the qualifying session and later placed fourth in his stacked heat race. After starting the 50-lap main event from the outside of the fifth row, the Wheelersburg, Ohio native was able to move up a couple of spots during the caution-free affair to claim an eighth place effort in his season lid lifter.

His brother Rod ran seventh in heat race action prior to taking the win in the B-Main. "Hot Rod" fought an ill-handling racecar during the 2013 version of the 'Spring 50' and wound up being paid for twentieth at the pay window. Complete results from Florence Speedway can be obtained by logging onto www.florencespeedway.com.

With R.J. taking this upcoming weekend off from racing action, Rod will make a return trip to the Florence Speedway by himself on April 6 to compete in a $3,000 to win, unsanctioned program. A complete show featuring heat races, consolation events, and the Super Late Model main event will be held at the King family speedplant. Delmas Conley, the patriarch of the Conley clan, will make his 2013 season debut on Saturday evening, but at the nearby Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio. A $2,000 winner’s check will be on the line at SOS tomorrow night.
