CARTERSVILLE, GA – A familiar name is on top of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings after Week 2 competition. A second-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS has put three-time series champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS at the top of the standings with 98 points.

Just six points separate the top five drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is second in the with 97 points after a fourth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Reynolds Motorsports/Billy Riels Racing GRT.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 96 points after finishing fifth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Sparks Motorsports/J. Dunning Sandblasting and Paint Special. Arnold and Trosclair were tied for the point lead going into Week 2 competition.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS picked up the win on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Villa South Trak-Star. The victory moved Scarbrough up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 95 points. Robert Casada of Hattiesburg, MS is fifth with 92 points.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS took a 40-point win on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA driving the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star and is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 89 points. Derrick Mackmer is seventh with 87 points, and Al Kouhout of Hattiesburg, MS is eighth with 84 points driving the Quick Lane Tune and Auto Center Special.

Tommy Nichols and Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS in the Bert Sullivan Warrior are tied for the tenth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 83 points apiece.

Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL was a busy driver on Saturday night, as he topped a 32-car field for the win at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the High Roller Race Cars Special. At the completion of that race, McRee loaded up and headed south to Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

McRee arrived at Whynot Motorsports Park in time to tag the tail of the 25-car field, and rallied to finish third in the 25-lap main event that was won by Randy Boyd of Marion, MS in the Coca-Cola Trak-Star.

In Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 2 action, Chandler Petty of Beebe, AR took the win in the season opener at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR driving the Petty Racing Rocket. Friday night action at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS was rained out.

In Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series action, Jeff Mathews of Valrico, FL drove the CURS Warrior to victory in the season opener at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL. Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN took the win at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN driving the Taylormade Performance Special.

Third-generation driver Jimmy Thomas of Phenix City, AL was the winner in the 40th Anniversary season opener at East Alabama Motor Speedway in the Dublin Tire Company Special. Scott Brantley of Monroeville, AL drove the Airport Sports Center Special to victory at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL. Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL was the winner at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the BP Racing Special.

NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 2 victories by Scarbrough, Lee and Boyd has put Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL on of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge point standings with three wins.

Defending and four-time champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is tied for the second spot in the Chassis Manufacturers point standings with Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN, all with one win apiece. In Week 2 competition, Petty posted a win for Rocket, and Mathews picked a win for Warrior.

Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN are also participating in the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge, and are looking for their first wins of the season.

After just two weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition, a total of 148 different drivers have earned points. The complete NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS point standings are posted on the NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS web site at www.nesmithracing.com.
