Heavy Rains Allows Mother Nature to Visit Victory Lane at Ponderosa Speedway
Junction City, KY-April 12, 2013- Ponderosa Speedway was set to present a regular show of racing competition on Friday evening at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval, but Mother Nature had other plans for the Friday night racing action and the heavy rains late in the evening on Thursday have forced the track to cancel its racing program scheduled for this evening April 12.
Heavy rains moved over the speedway grounds around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening and lighter showers lingered into the overnight and with the forecast for cooler temperatures on Friday, the grounds are saturated from the overnight rains and track officials thought it would be in the best interest of competitors and spectators to cancel the racing program scheduled for the evening.
The next event on the Ponderosa Speedway racing docket is the 1st Annual Spring Showdown for the Ray Cook promoted Schaeffer Oil Spring Nationals, paying $5,000 to win for Super Late Models on Friday April 19. This event is getting lots of interest from drivers and fans alike and should produce a great night of racing with several first-time competitors expected in the Super Late Model division for this event. Also on the racing docket for Friday April 19 will be the Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds ($600 to win), Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models ($600 to win), D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman ($300 to win), and Airport Road Salvage Yard Front Wheel Drives ($200 to win).
Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings from April through mid-October of the 2013 race season.
