Gearing up for race day and the first points race of the season was challenging for the Twin Cities staff this week, after a fews days of rain tried to hinder events. “We are racing Saturday!” A confident Troy Tabata stated on the Twin Cities Raceway Facebook page, leaving fans ecstatic and surrounding area drivers whose local tracks were cancelling a place to race! Car counts were up, and the track was in great shape considering the rain and shortened time being able to prep for Saturday’s racing. Fans were treated to a night filled with 3 and 4 car wide racing, passing, a nasty flip and a special treat watching a ‘bicycle bash’ sponsored by Tony Ogle photos! Results and photos from bicycle races will be posted later this week on twincitiesracewaypark.net.

In the $1500 to win late model feature, Jeremy Hines and Marty O’Neal started out on the front row, competing for the top spot position. Out front, it was the white 5H dominating much of the race, Jeremy raced himself into his third win in a row this season. Mike Jewell, starting in 14th place made his way up through the pack, ending in 5th position. Marty O’Neal, Joe Godsey, Ethan Burgess, and Mike Jewell took the remainder of the top five spots.

Broc Burton took the checkered flag in the modified division. After a heated battle between Richie Lex and Clayton Perry, Lex finally won over the second position spot, Perry coming in third with Joe Godsey and Kenny Carmichael SR rounding out the top five.

The feature winner in the superstock class was no stranger to victory lane. Sporting the yellow 13c, after a bout of bad luck last week, and a former track champion,Troy Clark found himself back on top flying like a rocket around another former track champion, and his cousin, Tim Clark for win Saturday. Tim Clark finished in the second spot with Josh Turner, Steve Peeden and Chris Hillman rounding out the top five in that division.

The pure stock feature brought spectators on their feet after a scary flip by Bodi Henry in the #38 car. Bodi was a bit shaken up but he was ok, however, the car suffered a bit of damage. Mark Bruce, a seasoned veteran in racing, in a nice new Applegate Chassis, was able to win the trophy and take the checkers over Troy Clark, Greg Sims, Justin Walters and Bill Moore.

The hornet division honored guests as they watched a father son battle in the feature race, with the father coming out on top for his second feature win in a row! Jeff Patterson won over son Justin Patterson, with Felisha DeWeese, Chad Taylor and Cody Perry rounding out the top five.
