By Jim Balentine-FASTRAK NE PR

(Youngstown,Ohio Tuesday April 16) Just two weeks after the inaugural 2013 Sweeney Chevy FASTRAK NORTHEAST Touring Series “Chiller Thriller” at Bill Altman’s Mercer Raceway Park the series returns for the “Spring Fling” which will pay $1,200 to the victor.

So far in 2013 both touring show events have been won by drivers in back up cars. Former series champ Dave Scott from Garland, Pa hopped into Billy Henry’s back up car two weeks ago at Mercer and dominated the 24 car field leading flag to flag over Dan Angelicchio and rising star Colton Flinner.

Last Sunday at Lernerville for the rescheduled “Steel City Stampede” last year’s champion Max Blair driving the Pat Wellar #39 renumbered Max’s 111 came from the fourteenth spot to overtake leader Kyle Zimmerman late in the race to take the win over Zimmerman, thirteenth starting Mike Pegher Jr., and sixteenth starting Butch Lambert.

With no other crate Late Model event being held Saturday night within the local area a large contingent of drivers are expected including drivers from Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway whom are racing at 2 PM and is within a one hour drive from Mercer to try to take the $1,200 prize back south.
