Greg Johnson Grabs $1,500 Super Late Model Special at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY- April 26, 2013- The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models would race for $1,500 to win at Ponderosa Speedway and Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN would visit victory lane at the conclusion of the 30 lap main event. Other feature event winners included Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY in Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY in Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models, Jeremy Howard of Berea, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman, and Charles Burton of Somerset, KY in Airport Road Salvage Yard Front Wheel Drives.

Greg Johnson and Justin Rattliff would bring the 30 lap, $1,500 to win Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model feature to the green flag, with Johnson taking the initial lead, while Victor Lee would take second, followed by Justin Rattliff, Brad Neat, and David Webb. Johnson and Lee would immediately pull away a bit from Rattliff and started lapping slower traffic on lap 8. The only caution of the race flew on lap 14 when Australian visitor Bruce MacKenzie got his mount crossed up in turn four in front of oncoming traffic. Back underway, Johnson and Lee would again scoot away from the pack, while Stephen Breeding would work past Rattliff for the fourth spot after Neat had taken third. By lap 22, Johnson was pulling away a bit from Lee, while Neat closed in on Lee. However, Johnson would be superior on this evening and put the Gary Engle owned Carthage Auto Parts/Hoosier Tire/Quality Electrostatic Painting/FK Rod Ends sponsored #15 Revelution Chassis, Waggs Race Engine powered mount in victory lane. Lee, Neat, Breeding and Webb would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Rattliff, Jason Smith, Johnny Wheeler, Todd Coffman, and Ross Nicastri. Sixteen entries saw Lee as top qualifier in Bob Allen Motor Mall time trials at 13.874 seconds, while Country 100.9 MIKE FM heat races went to Johnson and Rattliff.

Jacoby Hines would lead the opening lap of the 20 lap Bluegrass Drug Store Modified main event before Tommy Bailey would take the race lead on lap 2 and survive five different caution periods over the course of the event to capture his second-straight victory of the season at Ponderosa Speedway aboard the Berneil Mills owned Mills Auto/G&M Oil Company/Mountain Ridge Drilling/Tommy’s Automotive Repair/Team Talon/Fastlane Signs and Graphics sponsored #20 Lightning Chassis powered by a Doug Callebs Race Engine. Bryan Barber would charge to second in the second half of the event, while Benji Lee, Elliott Despain, and Hines completed the top five. Rounding out the top ten were J.T. Ayers, Michael England, Russ Gabbert, Tommy Gregory, and Mikah Reams. Sixteen entries saw Barber be the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 15.070 seconds, while Inter-County Energy heat races fell to Ayers and Hines.

Todd Coffman and Tyler Allen battled throughout the 20 lap Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Model feature event, with Coffman eventually coming out on top and scoring his second-straight win in the division behind the wheel of his Premier Self Storage/Auto Connection/ Coffman Photography/All Star Racewear/The Muffler Shop/Spears Construction/Archie’s Tire Center/ Harrod Farms/Todd’s Body Shop/Wilson Equipment sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis, GM604 powered entry. Allen would finish second, while Jake Henry, Gary Yeager, and Zane Powell completed the running order. Five entries would see Coffman also be the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 14.643 seconds.

The 15 lap D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman feature event would see Glen Hounshell, Jr. take the initial lead and hold it until lap 6 when he looped his mount in the middle of turns one and two. This would give the lead to Jeremy Howard and he would survive a 2 lap shootout at the end of the event to take the win in the seat of his J&J Bodies and Fab Works/Terry Rice Engines sponsored #310 Chevy Monte Carlo. Derek Bottoms would garner his second-straight runner-up finish, while Eddie Stewart placed third. Hounshell, Jr. would recover from his spin to finish fourth, while Donnie Sullivan recovered from a flat tire to claim fifth. The rest of the top ten were Glen Branham, Anthony Wiseman, Dan Dunbar, Johnny King, and Josh Vineyard. Twelve entries would see Sullivan be the Bob Allen Motor Mall fast qualifier at 16.354 seconds, while Northside RV heat wins were taken by Hounshell, Jr. and Howard.

The Airport Road Salvage Yard Front Wheel Drive main event would see Charles Burton win going away in his D&M Muffler/Lake Cumberland Thrift Store/Delaney Engineering sponsored #1B machine. Defending track champion Brandon Holt would score runner-up honors, while Danny Lafollette would claim third.
